Because of our unique location in the Wasatch Range of the Rocky Mountains, we utilize the outdoors extensively for our experiential therapies. The Lodge at Cirque Lodge is located above the world-famous Sundance Ski Resort owned by Robert Redford. From the Lodge we have unobstructed views of 12,000 foot majestic Mount Timpanogos.

This location allows us to provide outdoor therapies including hiking and mountain biking in the warmer months. During the colder winter months we go snowshoeing in some of the most remote regions of the Rocky Mountains. These activities allow residents to connect with their higher power and to bring beauty and gratitude back into their lives. It also allows the treatment counselors to assist residents to probe deeper into their substance abuse and help them along their road to recovery.

Areas of Addiction Treatment Recovery

Effective addiction treatment help and recovery at Cirque Lodge is based on three distinct phases as part of our treatment facility. The first phase entails detoxification and stabilization. If detox for alcohol addiction or drug addiction is required, we arrange for the resident go through a comprehensive program at a local hospital that specializes in this type of treatment. Once the resident has completed detox, he or she is then ready to begin recovery treatment at Cirque Lodge.

The rehabilitation phase of recovery includes the various program elements structured to the individual needs of each resident. This addiction treatment recovery stay is a minimum period of thirty days, and can be longer depending on the needs of the resident. Recovery cannot be rushed, as addiction to drugs or alcohol does not occur overnight. During this phase the resident completes part of the twelve-step program along with participation in the various experiential therapies and private and group therapy sessions.

For long-term recovery, aftercare is the final phase for addiction treatment. Upon completion of their stay at Cirque Lodge, we help each resident develop a long-term aftercare program. Sponsors and other persons in a resident's local area will play an important role in this long-term recovery phase after the drug treatment program.

Family Programming in Addiction Treatment

Every three weeks of Cirque Lodge are designated for working with families. Residents are encouraged to involve their family members in this programming. It is a week of specific treatments and workshops designed to help the family better understand the nature of addiction, and also prepare for a role in the recovery process. Each day provides a different element of recovery workshops and addiction treatment therapies.

Family members also meet with primary counselors at Cirque Lodge during family week. Counselors provide special therapy sessions and process groups. These elements help in opening lines of communication, tearing down the barriers built up by the addiction, and allowing for healing. Alcoholism and drug addiction is a family struggle. The addict/alcoholic is hurting, as well as their loved ones. Family week can be an effective tool of education and healing for the family burdened with substance abuse.
