Activity on the Mountain

With the Cirque Lodge program, clients have hands on experience with our mountain through alcohol rehab activities. We use an experiential program as a part of treatment. These are activities where skills and recovery are developed through first hand experiences. Many outdoor activities are a daily part of the addiction treatment program. No matter the time of year, clients have a chance to get out and experience the mountain.

Outdoor experiential activities include hikes, river walks, rock climbing, mountain biking, river rafting, and fly fishing. In the wintertime, we have winter activities, such as snow shoeing. A unique element of our experiential program involves our private helicopter. Clients in our alcohol rehab or drug rehab program have a chance to be flown to remote mountain locations. While there, they can do a bit of hiking along mountain tops, or spend some time in meditation. It is a unique element to addiction treatment, but it is so profound and powerful.

There is just something about being out on the mountain. It provides a healing that can not be described. Many mountain experiential activities allow alcohol rehab clients to go off on their own and to meditate. Clients have found this to be a very powerful piece. Cirque Lodge is a 12-step alcohol rehab and drug rehab facility. We use the teachings of Alcoholics Anonymous as a part of our recovery program. Sometimes, a mountain activity will involve a concept from the Big Book, and other times it may be an activity to help them with accomplishing the client's steps. Most importantly the mountain can provide connections. An important step of the 12-step process is to establish a connection to a higher power. We allow clients to find their own higher power and the peace and serenity of the mountain can help to establish the connection.
