12-step Recovery Program

All treatment at Cirque Lodge is based on the 12-step approach developed by Alcoholics Anonymous. The 12-step program is a spiritually based recovery. We work with residents to help them rebuild their own spirit in whatever manner they require. Spiritually based alcohol rehab doesn't mean religious. We allow residents to work on their 12-step program in the manner they feel comfortable and utilize the spiritual healing of nature to help our residents. The advantage to 12-step recovery is the help and support that is found in the community with fellowships and meetings, after the individual leaves the safety of a private alcohol rehab program.

Since rehab isn't a long enough duration to teach and work on all the 12-steps, the focus is on an introduction and work on the initial steps of recovery. During a 30-day treatment stay, the resident is introduced to the 12-step program and begins working on the steps of recovery. After they have been in alcohol rehab for a time, residents are given the opportunity to attend and be a part of a 12-step fellowship, and outside 12-step meetings. Residents in extended care (treatment that lasts longer than 30 days) are assigned and work with a sponsor. A lot of times, after rehab is all said and done, it is the 12-step fellowship that helps the individual in their times of struggle to stay sober.

Elements to our Alcohol Rehab Program

There are a number of elements to the Cirque Lodge inpatient alcohol rehab program. Firstly, the treatment experience is based on a personalized approach for each and every resident. While individuals share the common malady of addiction, the factors of why the addiction was developed can be very different. A personalized approach allows us to provide therapy and treatment for the individual. To arrest their addiction on a personal level, and provide the resident with the coping strategies that meet their needs.

During an alcohol rehab stay, residents are given an education on alcoholism and drug addiction. They gain a better understanding on the nature of addiction, as well as how it affects the central nervous system and behavior. This is done through entertaining and educational lectures, and activity types of workshops. Another part of alcohol rehab is group work. Many different group types are used in addiction treatment. These help to build support and provide an avenue for discussion with others. Some groups focus on topical discussion and others are more focused.

A part of each treatment stay is Family Week. This is a specialized program where treatment and therapy is geared towards the family. Cirque Lodge residents are encouraged to invite their family to come to the facility and take part in the program. Family week occurs every three weeks of our program. It runs Tuesday through Friday, and breakfast and lunch are provided by our culinary staff. Family Week consists of lectures to better educate the family on the nature of addiction. There are therapies to address addiction on a family level. We offer experiential activities to help the family experience the healing of nature. The program also offers a look at aftercare programs and the importance of following a recovery plan for long term sobriety.

The Use of Experiential Therapies

The unique part of our national alcohol rehab program is our use of experiential therapies. These are therapies based on performing fun and enjoyable activities. Some experiential activities are used to teach coping strategies for recovery. Residents are presented with a challenge. These challenges force them to think outside the addictive mindset to accomplish the tasks. Some of these activities require individual efforts to overcome fears. Other activities focus on the need for team work and support. Upon completion of these activities, the group sits down and discusses the lessons that were learned.

Another part of experiential activity is the focus on spiritual recovery. Cirque Lodge is surrounded by the background of a mountain location. The mountain is a venue for a number of experiential activities. These activities are used to help residents with their 12-step work. Some activities are based on the concepts of the Big Book. Others allow them time to meditate and connect with their higher power. We have a unique blend of therapy, alcohol treatment and activities at Cirque Lodge.
