Recovery from addiction is a process. It takes time and a lot of personal commitment and support. A person does not overcome addiction with just
alcohol rehab alone. They must continue to work on their sobriety and observe a total abstinence. Cirque Lodge begins the recovery process. It helps individuals come to terms with their addiction, as well as provides coping strategies and skills. Time in an alcohol rehab center in itself is also a process. This page addresses some of the elements to alcohol treatment at Cirque Lodge that build toward successful recovery.
Education and Support for Alcohol Recovery
For the individual to overcome alcohol addiction they first must understand the nature of it. Lectures and workshops provide an education on the nature of addiction and its behaviors. A number of visiting professionals and guest lecturers provide a varied look at the disease concept of addiction, how it affects lives, and what to do to overcome the impulses. We strive to make this education fun. Each lecturer offers a different personality and view of the recovery process.
The recovery process can be a little easier with support. Caring support can be the influence that keeps the individual working at their recovery. Support group sessions and activities are a part of the
private alcohol rehab center at Cirque Lodge. We use a number of different venues for building this support. From a group therapy session, to an experiential activity, building a support network is a part of our drug rehab program. At the heart of building support is the all important connection to one's higher power. Programs are provided to help individuals make such connections.
Addressing the Other Factors
There are other things that can influence addiction. Individuals can turn to drinking alcohol as a solution for these things. This leads to developing an addiction and doesn't really solve the problems of the underlying issues. Traumatic experiences, abuse and grief can all be suppressed by some hard drinking. That is the thing though; it only suppresses these issues and does not repair them. The problems are only compounded by an addiction to alcohol. A part of our national alcohol rehab center and recovery program is to address the underlying problems that have a hand in addiction.
Another factor that is influential in developing an alcohol addiction is that of a psychiatric condition, commonly called mood disorders. Depression, bi polar disorder and anxiety can be influential in factors. Individuals who struggle with these types of disorders are more susceptible to addiction. The chemical makeup of the central nervous system is primed for the influences of addictive substances when an imbalance created by the disorder is present. Cirque Lodge is a dual diagnosis facility. This means we treat for mood disorders in a
residential alcohol rehab center and recovery program.
Ample amounts of therapy are offered Cirque Lodge residents. Therapy sessions are a venue for dealing with the other factors of addiction. Group therapies are provided and are gender specific. A personal counselor offers one-on-one therapy according to residents' needs. Personal therapies can be the venue for coming to terms with some of the other factors that have a hand in addiction. Developing coping strategies for such underlying things can be influential in the success of the recovery process. Our licensed and certified counselors are committed to helping each resident with the right levels of therapy and care.
Continuing Alcohol Recovery
As stated earlier, recovery is a process. It takes time. Most treatment professionals feel it takes about a year of successful sobriety before the impulses to drink lessen. Still, even then, the possibility of relapsing is very real. The initial months of recovery, after leaving alcohol rehab, can be the most critical. There are programs and fellowships to help with this. When a client is preparing to leave alcohol and drug rehab at Cirque Lodge, they are prepared a plan that consists of continuing alcohol recovery.
Like all the elements of the
alcohol abuse and rehab center at Cirque Lodge, the Continuing Care Plan is personalized to meet the resident's needs. The resident's primary counselor and our aftercare staff work with the individual in developing their plan. Some individuals can require more time in a sober living environment, or even more help and therapy from an addiction counselor. This is provided in the Continuing Care Plan. At the heart of each plan is continued involvement in 12-step groups and meetings. Following this plan is completely up to the individual. However, continuing the alcohol rehab center and recovery with these types of programs can provide the help and support needed and maintain that connection to one's higher power.
