Alcohol addiction will remain a constant problem in our society. As long as these beverages are available, and people are turning to it as an answer to problems, addictions will be developed.

Estimates range that more than 14 million people in the United States can be classified as having alcohol and drinking related problems (abuse and dependency). It doesn't have to be this way. Alcoholism is treatable, and at Cirque Lodge, we are committed to helping your or a loved overcome alcoholism. Cirque Lodge is a nationally recognized alcohol and drug rehab facility. We use a personalized approach to treating addiction with our alcohol rehabs, call 1-877-997-3422.
The NIAAA (National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism) reported that 18% of individuals in this country will experience alcohol abuse or alcoholism related problems at some point in their lives. We all know someone in our families or neighborhoods who are struggling with drinking. Alcohol is the most commonly used substance of addiction in most age groups. Society is greatly affected by alcohol addiction and its influence. Several thousands of deaths are a result of traffic accidents where alcohol is involved (The NIAAA reports over 17,000 deaths in 2005).
It is a problem we all must face. However, with awareness and involvement, we can help these individuals find treatment and help from an alcohol rehab program.
Alcohol Affects on the Brain
When alcohol is consumed, it is absorbed through the lining of the stomach into the bloodstream and is introduced to the brain. The level or influence of alcohol is based on many factors. Height, age, weight and sex all have an influence on the affects and level of intoxication. At even low levels of consumption alcohol can have significantly debilitating affects on the central nervous system. It impairs judgment and coordination. It also creates a false sense of confidence and sensibility.
Alcohol in moderation is considered an okay practice. It is individuals who do moderate to heavy drinking often that can have long term concerns with drinking problems and alcoholism. The central nervous system can develop tolerances to alcohol over time. Larger amounts of alcohol are needed to feel the same levels of intoxication. This can lead to the abuse of alcohol and developing an addiction. Abuse and addiction is not the same thing. A person can drink to excess and not be an alcoholic. However, constant abuse of alcohol can be an indication of alcoholism.
Long Term Affects of Alcohol and Addiction
If a person abuses alcohol over a period of time, chances are they have an addiction. Alcoholism is a term given to those who are chemically dependent (addicted) on alcohol. This requires the consumption of large quantities of alcohol to maintain the influence within the body. When alcohol is not present, the body can go through a number of withdrawal problems. Some such problems can be so severe that they cause physical damage. To avoid withdrawal problems, the alcoholic will consume larger amounts to maintain the influence of alcohol in the central nervous system.
Long term alcohol abuse can do significant damage to the body and brain. A common practice of alcoholism is a poor diet. This can result in developing health problems and even Type II Diabetes. It damages the liver, the brain and can have impact on cardiopulmonary health. Without proper help, the person is literally drinking themselves to death. Help comes in the form of an alcohol or drug rehab program, 12-step groups, and addiction counseling.
One of the most sobering truths of alcohol addiction is related in the costs and the deaths. There are estimates that average that 100,000 people each year die as a result of alcohol related incidents. This is more than just the traffic accidents. Many people die in their homes from high levels of consumption, liver failure and as a result of withdrawal. Alcohol related problems costs us as a society between 40 and 60 billion dollars a year. It doesn’t have to be this way. Early detection and enrollment into on of the
alcohol addict rehabs can be a means to an end of the problem.

Woven into this experience is our experiential program; consisting of activities that teach recovery strategies and create a spiritual awakening.
At the heart of our alcohol rehab program is a personalized approach to each individual. Residents work through their very own treatment plan. Personal counselors and case workers are assigned each individual. A personalized approach to
alcohol rehabs and the recovery process allows us to help with the underlying issues of addiction. Personalizing treatment provides high levels of care and answers for the drinking problem.
Alcoholism is something that does not go away. The impulses to drink are still ever present. The recovering alcoholic must manage their addiction and these impulses to drink. At first, these impulses are constant and can be a struggle. Over time, the impulses lessen. To help recovering alcoholics manage their addiction and overcome these impulses, Cirque Lodge prescribes a continuing care plan for residents. Through this plan the recovering alcoholic has the proper means of help and support for continuing their
alcohol rehabs and addiction recovery. Aftercare works with each resident to create the best possible continuing care plan for them.
