Educating the Alcoholic

Most alcoholics have no idea what they are doing to themselves. Their mindset is just to seek out and consume that next drink. They do not have an understanding of how that drink is affecting their central nervous system, their body, or their behavior. These come from our experiential therapy program, which is based in a number of indoor and outdoor activities. Residents have many different opportunities to participate in fun and skill building exercises. At the end of each activity, clients sit down and have a discussion about what was learned. These things can be used as recovery skills in the long run. The activities also provide meaningful experiences that inspire internal changes. Each day, residents undertake a different challenge or activity. They are profound in the ways they teach recovery.

Cirque Lodge Offers Unique Privileges

Alcohol treatment help is a little different here at Cirque Lodge. We have discussed the balance of experiential work as a part of a recovery program. Cirque also offers those in alcohol and drug rehab a number of different privileges with successful completion of the program. Cirque has a weekly aftercare meeting held locally at our Studio facility. With this, other aftercare activities are available in different times of the year. Alumni are also encouraged to attend Family Week and participate in the lectures and programs that are involved.

The most unique privilege we offer residents is to return to the alcohol rehab facility at anytime and guest with us. The Guesting Privilege gives alumni of our facility the chance to return for up to 96 hours and receive treatment at anytime. This privilege is free of charge to those who have completed the Cirque program. Guesting is an exclusive privilege available only to individuals who have stayed sober. Recovery is a process; at times it can be more difficult than others. The chance to get away from the struggles and guest with us can be a helping tool to maintaining that sobriety.

Guesting must be approved by our clinical staff and is based on room availability. It is a privilege to all Cirque Alum, not just the ones who are struggling. In the past, residents who are in successful recovery return to the facility to celebrate a milestone in their sobriety, and rekindle the flame for recovery. Elements such as guesting are one of the things that separate the Cirque Lodge from other leading alcohol rehab facilities.
