Drug Rehab Using an Assessment Process

Personalizing an Alcohol and Drug Treatment Program

Assessing The Addiction with Drug Rehab Many of the high end alcohol and drug rehab programs offer a personalized treatment for addiction. The question stands, how they do this for each individual. Part of it begins in the assessment process. When an addict or alcoholic first admits into the program, they undergo an assessment to best determine their needs.

One area of insight is a multiphase inventory. This is commonly called an MMPI. The inventory covers a range of emotions and topics. It covers a wide range of personalities and reactions to particular situations. Through this it is best determined a personality structure of the individual. With this inventory the treatment staff of the drug rehab program can see how to design the program to align itself with the personality.

A part of the assessment process is to look into the histories of the alcoholic or addict. Questions on how long they have been using, as well as what type of substances can help to better personalize the program. Also taken into consideration is the medical history. Perhaps the addiction was developed due to another medical related problem that requires a closer attention. A look into these things can better determine the nature and the severity of the addiction.

Dual diagnosis facilities will use the assessment process to assess the severity of co-occurring conditions. Psychiatric disorders like depression or anxiety can be an evident symptom of drug and alcohol addiction problems. A part of this assessment is to determine what part, if any or all does the disorder play into the addiction problem itself. Many times it is the disorder that is the problem. The substance abuse is just a way of masking that problem.

The information that is provided by the assessment is collected. This information is used to prescribe a treatment plan. The treatment plan is patterned after the needs discovered within the elements of the assessment process. In this manner the drug rehab can look after and care for the individual, in a way that best meets their needs. This information is provided by Cirque Lodge in Sundance Utah. Cirque Lodge uses a rigorous assessment process to best determine a treatment plan for each individual client.
