The Growing Problem with Prescription Drug Abuse and Addiction
You couldn't tell by looking at them. Most of them wouldn't even say that it is a problem. Therein lays the danger of prescription drug abuse. The alarm has been sounded when it comes to prescription drug abuse and addiction. The reason for this awareness is by whom it affects. Normally when you think a drug addict, a number of stereotypical thoughts and images probably fall into place. Prescription drug abuse in a majority of cases does not live into this stereotype. People who struggle with drug abuse do not fit the mold of a 'drug addict.' People who struggle with prescription drug issues can be our friends, our mothers, and even the dependable co-worker. We don't know what is going on in others lives that can make the desired affects of these drugs so appealing.

So how does one determine a prescription drug problem? Look at how the drugs are being used. Are they taken according to dosage, or in excessive amounts? Are you looking for prescription refills despite the doctor's recommendations? Is the practice of taking prescription drugs more about the feeling they provide than what they were prescribed for?
