Family Week in Drug Rehab
The lobby at the Cirque Lodge alcohol and drug rehab center is full with a number of wide eyed individuals. They are the family members of the residents of the facility. They have come to participate in a special program designed to assist the family in the recovery process. When they meet with their loved one there is some excitement that fills the room. There are comments about how good the drug rehab resident looks, and many hugs and embraces.Cirque Lodge uses Family Week as an integral part of the addiction treatment process. It occurs every third week of the treatment cycle. With this frequency it is made available for each client as a part of their personalized treatment program. Family Week occurs Tuesday thru Friday and is designed with a number of programs that are geared for the family. These programs are multifaceted to help the family and the addict in recovery, and growing together. Alcohol and drug addiction is far reaching. It goes beyond just the addict and alcoholic. It can have an equal effect on family members within the home. The behavior of the addict in pursuit of drugs or drink can be a great emotional strain. Equally, a strained relationship can lead to many misconceptions in the home creating a rift among loved ones. The family wants to help their addict loved one, but doesn't know how. Family Week is designed to assist the family in just that; developing the skills needed to help their loved one in recovery. The family sits together through lectures and classroom settings. They learn about the nature of addiction, how it works and what it does to the body. They learn about the behaviors of addiction, as well as the importance of the family's supportive roll in recovery. The family is also given the chance to enjoy some of the experiential activities that are used in this unique addiction treatment program. Finally, as a part of Family Week, the family and the addict have an opportunity to sit through therapy sessions with a licensed treatment counselor. Many of the problems that fuel addiction can be traced to family things. Process therapy allows the family to come to an understanding about the personal things behind the addiction. With the overall Family Week program this therapy session can deeply impact both the family member and the addict. After Family Week, the family and addict are more fully prepared for life after drug rehab; building towards a successful recovery.
