Primary care is a 30-day program. It is a steady balance of personalized and group programs, family programs and experiential therapy. 30-days many times is just simply not enough. In this case we can recommend extended care treatment. This is an additional program to help the recovering addict or alcoholic with their coping strategies and recovery skills. Our clinical staff can make a recommendation for extended care depending on the progress of the individual. For more severe cases of alcohol and drug addiction extended care is automatically suggested.

Extended Drug Rehab

The Cirque Lodge approach to drug rehab care is an aggressive one. Not aggressive in the intensity. Rather it is aggressive in the approach itself. We believe in taking a more involved step into the treatment process. We provide more personal cognitive behavioral therapy to address and treat addiction's underlying issues. We also incorporate a number of social and skill building programs. This approach to an extended addiction treatment program is quite effective at helping those through the recovery process.

The initial steps of the 12-step program (Steps 1-3) are what are focused on in primary care. In extended care, the drug rehab program looks and takes an active approach at working the fourth and fifth step of the 12-step modality. This is also an effective approach to treating the underlying issues of the alcohol or drug addiction. A solid foundation of the first five steps of the 12-step program can greatly enhance the success of recovery. The addiction treatment program is continually tailored to help the extended care client to progress.

Extended care also involves attendance to 12-step and support meetings. Many of these are offered on campus, however some are not. Developing the practice of meeting attendance can help those in recovery for life after rehab. The drug rehab program provides opportunities to participate and work in these meetings towards recovery. Most support groups provide an addiction sponsor. As a part of treatment an addiction sponsor is provided in accordance to the support group program. This example of sober living is profoundly effective for those in extended care. The sponsor and client are allowed to go out and attend meetings as well as spend time in social situations outside of rehab.

Aftercare in Drug Rehab

Upon completion of extended care, relapse prevention and aftercare are provided. This is continued work with 12-step support meetings and addiction sponsors. Cirque Lodge is a national program, and as such we can not be everywhere at all times. Aftercare seeks out to find the best 12-step support programs for our graduates. These programs are local to the client's particular place of residence. We create a continued care plan for each resident upon completion of our drug rehab program. This is a chance to continue in support and working with an addiction sponsor for recovery.

In our drug rehab approach clients also are given opportunities to return to Cirque Lodge for family week, guesting privileges, and our alumni reunion. The guesting privilege is a chance to return up to 72-hours to the Cirque Lodge facility to refocus the efforts on recovery. The alumni program is a chance to return with fellow alumni and remember the life changing experience discovered at Cirque Lodge.
