A primary care stay in the Cirque Lodge program is not nearly long enough to fully work the steps of the 12-step model. In this shortened time we are dedicated to giving our clients a solid foundation of the initial steps of the 12-step recovery.

The original developers of the Alcoholics Anonymous program discovered that support greatly enhanced the recovery process as a whole. They incorporated support meetings and drug rehab sponsors into the entire 12-step process. At Cirque Lodge, we understand the importance of support in recovery. Our philosophy is to provide enough necessary support to promote an early recovery. In the drug rehab program, this is found with a number of group based programs. Support is integral to maintaining strength throughout recovery.

Balanced Drug Rehab Structure

To offer the most complete therapy, Cirque Lodge offers a balance to their addiction treatment program. Though founded on the 12-step drug rehab structure, we incorporate other effective treatment tools, to promote addiction recovery. One of the most effective aspects to our balance is cognitive behavioral therapy. Alcohol and drug addiction is a disease of the mind. The brain is most affected by substance abuse, and the brain is the most in need of treatment. Cognitive behavioral therapy is an effective stratagem against the impulses caused by addiction. Aspects of cognitive behavioral therapy are used in all areas of our addiction treatment program. This helps the client learn to cope with the impulses caused by addiction.

Aspects of cognitive therapy are used in a private setting as well. A large part of the Cirque Lodge structure deals specifically with a one-on-one approach. Experiential therapy is therapeutic activities that teach active lessons in recovery. Many of these activities are based in nature. The nature activities can provide elements and aspects to healing that can only be found in nature. Activities include hiking, mountain biking, snow shoeing, cross country skiing, and fly fishing. The spirit of the mountain can enhance the healing of the addiction treatment program.

Experiential therapy has helped countless numbers of our residents develop the strategies they need against addiction. These skills are learned through activities meant to challenge them. For most, learning through experience is easier than learning through listening. Experiential programs like the rope course can help them to get out of their comfort zone, where addiction resides. The equine program can help them learn communication skills through working with a horse. Dual Diagnostic Drug Rehab Structure

Cirque Lodge is a dual diagnostic addiction treatment program. Advances have been made in the field of addiction therapy that has made treatment for co-occurring disorders possible at the same facility. Dual diagnosis provides effective treatment for problems with codependence, depression, and anxiety. Dual diagnosis helps the drug rehab counselor to determine the influence of the disorder in addiction. For some it is the disorder that leads to self medication. For others, the alcohol or drug addiction masks the disorder, and the addict is left unaware. When in treatment, the client will have feelings of depression or anxiety in ways they never have before. Dual diagnosis helps us to determine what is caused by the addiction withdrawal.
