Drug Rehab Programming Helping with Families
Wednesday, June 29th, 2011
Family members can play a very integral part in the recovery process over alcoholism or drugs. However, those involved may not be prepared for this role. At the Cirque, we provide a family program as a part of alcohol and drug rehab. Every three weeks of programming is dedicated to working with residents and their loved ones which attend this treatment piece. Family members greatly benefit from an education on the nature of addiction, the family system in recovery, aftercare and the importance of the 12-step program.
There can be a number of misconceptions when it comes to addiction and a loved one’s struggles with drugs or alcohol. With the Cirque Lodge Family Program, those involved are educated on many of these aspects. They are taught about the disease concept of addiction. Family members also learn a great deal on enabling and also the difficulties of codependent relationships that are often evident in addiction. Not all aspects of Family Week are lectures or groups. Family members also have a chance to participate in experiential activities and events.
Family Week also offers the family and their loved one in drug rehab a chance sit down and discuss things. Family issues and difficult experiences can have a heavy hand in developing addiction and substance abuse. Process groups and sessions with a primary counselor provide a place for open communication, and more importantly understanding one another. This aspect can be quite difficult for some, but in the long run it can be therapeutic and integral to healing. Family Week provides all involved with aspects to help them for long term recovery and goals for a clean or sober future.

When an alcoholic or addict comes to treatment, their lives can be out of balance. The behavior of seeking and using addictive drugs or alcohol can create quite a bit of chaos around the individual and their lives. Alcohol and drug rehab fits a structured schedule with a balance of treatment programs. At Cirque Lodge drug rehab, this approach treats the body, mind and spirit, creating a balance for that individual and a means to long term recovery.
Aftercare is an important aspect to continuing the efforts of recovery. After completing alcohol or drug rehab at Cirque Lodge, aftercare can be a means to staying sober through additional program, meetings and fun activities. Alumni who remain local to the facility can become involved in the many different elements that are planned to assist with aftercare and strengthening recovery. Here’s a message from one of our Cirque Counselors who works with this aftercare effort:
The warmer months at Cirque Lodge provide a new array of experiential and recovery activities. Alcohol and drug rehab at the Cirque consist of the most effective forms of clinical care combined with the healing and recovery aspects of experiential learning activities. As the snow melts, a number of new and beautiful mountain locations are available. These venues are used as places to teach concepts of recovery, the 12-steps and as quiet places for meditation in nature. Part of the fun comes from the modes and means it takes to get to these locations.
No expense has been spared in creating a comfortable environment at Cirque Lodge. Those in need of an alcohol or drug rehab facility are provided a very comfortable and very private place to heal and recover. It is not an easy process to come down from drugs or alcohol. Some can be coming from very difficult circumstances when they first enter into a treatment program. It is the effort of a comfortable facility to help to relieve some of these stresses and struggles. Cirque offers a home like environment, relaxing amenities and delicious foods for residents.
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration released information today about the growth in benzodiazepine abuse treatment admissions. From 1998-2008 the number of drug rehab admissions for benzodiazepine medications had tripled. The alarm is that it is compared to just an 11 percent increase in all other substances of abuse. Benzodiazepine drugs are a class of medications that are used to treat anxiety and insomnia disorders. They were developed in the 1950′s to replace barbiturates as a central nervous system depressant. Common brand names of benzodiazepines are Valium, Librium, Klonopin and Xanax.
When an alcoholic or addict comes to Cirque Lodge for treatment, they are surrounded by a caring staff and clinical team. Overcoming an addiction can be difficult without proper help. A caring and supportive environment can make a considerable difference in arresting this progressive disease and overcoming the issues of withdrawal, trauma and grief. At the Cirque Lodge drug rehab facility, much of the care and recovery aspects of the program come through the efforts of a dedicated staff and counselors. Staff is available around the clock to meet client needs and address any concerns.
Many individuals struggling with substance abuse and addiction also struggle with a form of mental health disorder. Chemical dependency and disorders go hand in hand. A mental health disorder can make it much more likely that an individual will develop substance abuse through self-medication. Likewise, extensive substance abuse can be an influential component in developing depression, anxiety or other mental health disorder. To treat this, many alcohol and drug rehab providers offer a co-occurring or dual diagnosis addiction program.
Cirque Lodge consists of two alcohol and drug rehab in facilities in Utah. The Studio facility offers a unique and ideal location for the treatment of alcoholism and drug addiction in Orem Utah. Formerly a movie and TV Studio, renovations to the building made it ideal for treating men and women residents in need of programs for substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders. The Studio is a larger enrollment facility and is home to the administrative offices of the Cirque Lodge alcohol and drug rehab center.
Alcohol and drug rehab at Cirque Lodge follows a set structure for residents each day. When residents first come to drug rehab they may not be aware, but following such a schedule each day can be a mode of self-care. Daily self-care can be a powerful skill for the recovery process and at the Cirque it begins with the morning and evening schedule for starting and ending each day. A meeting is held each morning for residents to read out of the Big Book, to meditate, and to set goals for the day. Such skills can help the struggling alcoholic/addict to bring things into balance to begin their day.
