12-Steps Needed After Drug Rehab
Some elements of the 12-step program are not readily discovered until the individual has left drug rehab. The purpose of the 12-steps in treatment is to prepare the individual for recovery. Usually drug rehab covers the initial 2-3 steps of the program. However, the rest of the 12-step program is utilized outside of rehab by support groups and addiction sponsors.
A lot of times after rehab, it comes down to having established the aspects of the 12-step program. A connection with a higher power and a commitment to recovery can be a needed foundation in times of struggle. Support is found through meetings, groups and a sponsor. At times, relapse rears its ugly head. It can be difficult. However maintaining the steps and utilizing support can be beneficial.
Life after rehab can have its good times, as well as its bad. A solid foundation of the 12-step process can provide a relationship with ones higher power, needed for those difficult times.
