Spiritual Recovery with Drug RehabWhen a person is struggling with chemical dependency to alcohol or drugs, they are struggling in many ways. It can be a physical struggle, as the abuse of drugs has affected their overall health. It can be an emotional struggle, as the drugs and alcohol have greatly strained relationships of loved ones. It is also a psychological struggle as the affects of addiction have taken over a number of the primary functions of the central nervous system.

For a lot of people however, it is the spiritual struggle that is the most difficult. Drugs and alcohol have broken them down, and left them with a bleak outlook. The advantage to residential drug rehab is that it addresses the struggles of addiction. An important element of treatment at Cirque Lodge is the focus on spiritual recovery. Now, usually when people think of spirituality, they think religious. The Cirque Lodge focuses on a broader sense of spirituality, and how achieving spiritual recovery can reduce the risks of relapse.

There is something about being in the mountains when it comes to spiritual enlightenment. Residents of the Cirque Lodge program are immersed in nature as apart of drug rehab treatment. They can discover for themselves the healing that comes from nature. It provides a serene place for communing with ones higher power. Practicing Yoga in Drug Rehab

One of the more recent coping strategies found in drug rehab today is yoga. More and more alcohol and drug treatment facilities are implementing yoga as a part of the recovery program. In addition to the more standard forms of treatment, yoga gives the recovering addict a chance to meditate, focus, as well as exercise. Such a program can be helpful at reducing stress and creating balanced to an uneasy central nervous system.

Yoga balances the body, mind and spirit. There isn’t a greater person in need of this balance than an individual struggling with drugs or alcohol. In most cases, alcohol and drugs have left the body, mind and spirit completely out of whack. Practicing yoga provides a focus and a discipline that many individuals struggling with addiction lack. It can help to realign the balance of the body, making it easier accept other elements of treatment for some.

The relaxation techniques used in yoga can also help with elements of addiction withdrawal. A common withdrawal problem when coming off of drugs is anxiety, restlessness and sleeplessness. By practicing yoga, the addict learns a number of effective relaxation and meditation techniques. These techniques can be used to reduce stress, making it easier to sleep.

Finding Support in Recovery

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

Support GroupThe process of recovery takes time and a lot of personal effort. It helps to have individuals along the way for support, just whenever they are needed. This can be a 12-step group, a sponsor, an addiction counselor, family or friends. Just someone who can help you when you are struggling and the impulse to use is strong.

During the initial days, weeks, and months of recovery support can be critical. That is why after someone leaves alcohol or drug rehab they are encouraged to find a support group to help them. This fellowship can provide the support and the focus for staying clean day after day. Now, support isn’t all that is needed, it still requires a lot of personal effort and sacrifice. However, support can make many of the burdens that come from addiction and withdrawals seem less. A lot of the difficulties we face in life can be made easier through a helping hand and a caring heart. For those who struggle with alcohol or drug addiction, there is an endless amount of support from those willing to help. All they need to do is ask.

Personalizing the Drug Rehab Experience

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

One-on-One Therapy SessionAn advantage to high end addiction treatment is in the level care. This is found in the therapy and within the program itself. Treatment at Cirque Lodge offers clients the most privacy and comfort for their recovery from addiction. In addition, this experience includes a personalized treatment plan for each client. This plan is closely monitored and is tailored after the personal needs of each client.

How and why individuals become addicted to substances stem from a varying number of circumstances. These circumstances can be a number of personal problems that are deeply rooted in the addict themselves. By personalizing alcohol and drug rehab to meet the needs of each client, the treatment can get to the heart of this matter for each individual. The personalized treatment plan is continually discussed and adjusted for each client to benefit from the best elements of therapy.

The clinical staff at Cirque Lodge meet together daily to discuss the progress of each individual within the program. They discuss progress, concerns, and come up with solutions to help each client on an individual basis. This helps the client to best benefit from the care they stand in need of, with the therapy that best attends their needs.

Saving Lives in Drug RehabThere can be a misconception when it comes to drug addiction or alcoholism. These individuals sometimes are viewed as bad people. Sometimes, people do have to resort to bad things to continue use in their addiction. These people are not bad people however. They are sick in mind and spirit. Drug rehab isn’t turning bad people good; it’s making the sick well again.

At Cirque Lodge, treatment is more than addressing the addiction, its saving lives. A lot of this important work is placed upon the shoulders of our dedicated staff. These are individuals who have turned their lives over to making those who struggle with addiction well again. Overcoming these things can be a difficult process. However staff members are there to make this process easier. Our focus is to make each treatment stay not only successful, but a life changing experience. It is rewarding through the years to see many of those we have helped continuing in successful recovery.

12-Steps Needed After Drug Rehab

Friday, September 12th, 2008

Some elements of the 12-step program are not readily discovered until the individual has left drug rehab. The purpose of the 12-steps in treatment is to prepare the individual for recovery. Usually drug rehab covers the initial 2-3 steps of the program. However, the rest of the 12-step program is utilized outside of rehab by support groups and addiction sponsors.

A lot of times after rehab, it comes down to having established the aspects of the 12-step program. A connection with a higher power and a commitment to recovery can be a needed foundation in times of struggle. Support is found through meetings, groups and a sponsor. At times, relapse rears its ugly head. It can be difficult. However maintaining the steps and utilizing support can be beneficial.

Life after rehab can have its good times, as well as its bad. A solid foundation of the 12-step process can provide a relationship with ones higher power, needed for those difficult times.

Dealing with the Underlying Things of Alcoholism

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

Helping Those with Alcohol ProblemsWe all know someone with an alcohol problem. How they developed this problem is quite different. The factors that lead to alcoholism can vary on a number of social, psychological and emotional things. People turn to alcohol to kind of “solve” their problems caused by these factors. What they are really doing is suppressing the problems, not fixing them. Part of alcohol and drug rehab is to apply solutions to the underlying factors of alcoholism.

Cirque Lodge personalizes treatment for each client. For individuals struggling with alcoholism this means a specific alcohol rehab program. Therapy is personalized to address the underlying factors that have lead to excessive and uncontrolled drinking. Sometimes these problems are issues stemming from family problems. The family program is an effective platform for addressing these things. With these effective forms of therapy a person can come to terms with their drinking problem. This instills a hope and healing for a life free from the control of alcohol.

Experiential Learning in Drug Rehab

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

Experiential Hiking ActivityWhen Cirque Lodge was established, one of the distinct differences it had from other programs was its emphasis on activities. These experiential activities would become an integral element of the drug rehab program. Clients of Cirque Lodge engage in daily experiential learning activities as a part of their clinical therapy. These activities include many outdoor things like hiking, mountain biking, and fly fishing. The experiential program expanded with the Studio facility. This massive facility provided venues for indoor activities and a permanent home for Cirque’s equine experiential program.

People learn in different ways. Experiential learning provides an avenue for learning through action. At Cirque Lodge, experiential activities are cognitively based. With this, the client can learn imperative lessons that are similar parallels to overcoming addiction. The lessons can help them in building the skills needed to successfully overcome drugs or drink. They are taught through activities that can help them build needed confidence from within.

Experiential activities also provide elements of enjoyment for the program. Getting off of addictive substances is tough. Dealing with some of the problems that are brought up in therapy can be hard. A daily experiential activity can provide a needed release from the more rigorous elements of alcohol or drug treatment. It gives the addict in recovery a chance to enjoy surrounding nature, and to think about things. It is a balance of these activities and effective therapies that has pushed Cirque Lodge to the forefront of the addiction treatment community.
