12-Step Recovery and Addiction Sponsors

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

Serenity Prayer in 12-step MeetingOvercoming the influences of addiction is a process. It takes time for the central nervous system to overcome the impulses of drugs and alcohol. After someone leaves alcohol rehab or drug rehab, they are still subject to the influences of addiction. The 12-step program provides a guideline to follow after someone has completed rehab. Cirque Lodge is founded on a 12-step recovery. A part of the alcohol and drug addiction program is to develop a strong base in the 12-step program. A rehab stay isn’t nearly long enough to work all steps of the program, however. After drug rehab is completed, the role of 12-step recovery is carried out through 12-step support meetings and groups.

Working with an addiction sponsor can be a vital part of 12-step recovery. An addiction sponsor can be helpful in many ways. They are an example of successful recovery. They can be an assistant in critical times of need. They can provide support in a number of ways. A sponsor can help the individual in continuing to work the 12-steps of successful recovery. When this recovery is achieved, the individual can be a sponsor to someone else in need. Helping others is just a part of the 12-steps and traditions of addiction recovery.

Over time, the impulses to drink and use lessen, the connection with a higher power strengthens, and the commitment to stay sober is better solidified. This is a process, but can be life saving element for those who suffer from alcohol and drug addiction.

Drug Rehab for the Underlying Things

Monday, November 24th, 2008

Struggling with Drug and Alcohol AddictionPeople use drugs and alcohol as a deterrent for dealing with the problems in their lives. For some, these problems are painful and traumatic. Instead of addressing these issues in the proper manner, they are suppressed with drugs and alcohol. Over time, this problem is compounded because an addiction is developed. The underlying issues still exists, but the drugs and alcohol are used more to stay under the influence. Drug and alcohol addiction can require the specialized touch of an addiction treatment program.

Cirque Lodge personalizes the alcohol and drug rehab program for each client specifically. If a person is dealing with underlying problems, therapy is provided to address them. Each drug rehab client also works one-on-one with a primary counselor during treatment. This counselor can provide the needed care and listening ear. A family program is also available to assist the drug rehab client with underlying family problems. Dealing with the underlying things is just one of the many ways we treat the addiction with our drug rehab program. For some, it the healing for these underlying things that is most needed.

Planning an InterventionIt can be difficult to get a loved one into rehab. A behavior is developed where the person will go to great lengths to protect the addiction. They don’t see their life going out of control, their only concern is using. When you express concerned to your loved one, you can meet with resistance. This is a defense mechanism to protect the addiction. Sometimes, professional help is the best measure for getting that loved one into a drug rehab program.

Using an interventionist can make a difference. Professional interventionists have experience in working with such a volatile situation. A key to the intervention process is planning. Working with an interventionist can create the right action plan for your loved one in need of drug rehab. A successful intervention is well planned and carried out with love. Most interventionists work independently, and are not affiliated with any addiction treatment facility. They can assist in making recommendations on the right treatment center for your loved one.

Cirque Lodge works with many intervention services. Intervening on a drug addiction can make a great difference on the life of your loved one. See our intervention services page for information on some of the leading professional interventionists that work with our drug rehab program.

To avoid any health risks that stem from alcoholism withdrawal, the first element is detoxification. The detox process removes harmful toxins of alcohol in the body. Due to chemical dependence, the central nervous system can struggle without alcohol present. A vital element of detoxification is to stabilize this condition and treat withdrawal. Alcoholism withdrawal can be life threatening. Detox is a vital element of the alcohol treatment process.

After detox one should enter into an alcohol rehab program. Cirque Lodge is a leading drug rehab and alcohol rehabilitation facility. Treatment is personalized to provide more specific care. The 12-step program is beneficial after one leaves an alcohol rehab program. This gives the recovering alcoholic a guideline for life in recovery. 12-step programs, such as Alcoholics Anonymous, are additionally helpful to alcoholics in recovery. They help to continue the recovery process with support and an essential connection with a higher power. For clients of the Cirque Lodge alcohol rehab program, a continuing care plan is developed to assist the alcoholic through the process of recovery.
