Alcohol Rehab with a Long Term Plan

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

Serenity Prayer Concludes an AA MeetingRecovery from alcoholism is a process that can take some time. The way many individuals get their lives back into control is with an alcohol rehab program. During rehab, one comes to terms with their addiction, and develops coping skills used to deal with addictive impulses. These skills can be used to deal with such impulses after one has left the confines of the alcohol rehab program, and is once again faced by temptations. At Cirque Lodge, prior to departing alcohol and drug rehab, we prepare the recovering alcoholic for this with a long term plan for their recovery.

Upon completion of alcohol rehab at Cirque Lodge, each client is provided with a continuing care plan. This plan consists of different elements to assist in the recovery process. A foundation of the continuing care plan is enrollment in an Alcoholics Anonymous program. There are many AA meetings available, and our continuing care staff seeks out the best AA program to meet specific needs of the individual. Our client’s needs are something we take most seriously. Even in aftercare, we strive to address and meet our client’s needs with what they require for a long term and successful recovery. For some, this could mean additional therapy sessions, or group therapies. For others it may just mean an involved 12-step group and an addiction sponsor. Our aftercare staff works with each client to find what will help them make and keep long term goals of sobriety.

Additionally, Cirque Lodge provides unique programs for Alumni to help them with a long term recovery. Former clients are invited to guest at our facility for up to 96 hours. This is a chance to refresh and refocus efforts on recovery. Cirque Lodge also provides a family program every three weeks of our treatment regimen. Cirque Lodge Alumni are invited to come and participate in lectures and other elements of Family Week. The Studio facility also hosts a weekly aftercare meeting for former Cirque Lodge clients. These efforts are to help the clients of our alcohol rehab program to stay focused and continually working towards positive recovery goals.

Horses in Drug Rehab

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

Working with Horses in Drug RehabCirque Lodge uses a number of unique elements when it comes to addiction treatment. One such element requires a very unique therapist, a horse. The equine experience at Cirque Lodge is an effective tool used within the drug rehab program. It teaches individuals with addiction problems great lessons in regards to how they react in certain situations. This all stems from the direct and honest feedback of the horse.

Horses are acutely aware creatures. They are more aware than humans when it comes to the psychology of a situation. They are also animals of flight; they will look to avoid a situation they see as dangerous. Because of this psychology, a person must gain the trust of the horse to work with the horse in any capacity. Human beings are used to imposing their will to get their way. With a horse this does not work. They are physically more dominant a creature. People must use honesty through actions and not words to get the horse to respond to commands.

For individuals in drug rehab, working with horses can be a therapeutic and sobering process. It is a process that teaches profound patience. Getting the horse and the drug rehab client acquainted with one another can take some time. This is an activity that teaches the recovering addict about trust, communication, and ultimately the importance in asking for help. A metamorphosis occurs when that trust is established. The addict’s mindset is changed from one of frustration and urgency to a therapeutic connection with the horse. This bond between man and animal can be an effective avenue of healing and recovery.

Dining and Nutrition in Drug Rehab

Monday, December 29th, 2008

Preparing Food for Drug Rehab ClientsA part of alcohol and drug rehab at Cirque Lodge is an emphasis on nutrition. Alcohol and drug abuse can affect the body physically. It can suppress the appetite and lead to undernourishment. The approach to correcting this is to reintroduce healthy, good, foods to the recovery process. Individuals in the drug rehab program enjoy eating three meals a day, as well as nutritious snacks and beverages, when needed throughout the day. The body can begin to heal from addiction and abuse, just as the mind and spirit are healing as well.

Like all things at Cirque Lodge, the dining experience emphasizes luxury. All meals are prepared by culinary school graduates and experienced chefs. The food is what you would expect from a high-end drug rehab program. It is just a focus to offer the very best in every facet of alcohol and drug addiction treatment. The dining experience can help to reintroduce healthy eating habits. This provides needed nutrients to recovering the body from years of neglect, caused by drug and alcohol addiction. Through the weeks of drug rehab, the body can start its progression back to a normal and healthy state.

Drug Rehab and a 12-step Recovery

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008

Establishing a Connection with a Higher PowerTreatment at Cirque Lodge is founded on the 12-step program. A 12-step recovery lays the groundwork for life after rehab. The drug rehab program at Cirque Lodge is centered on making progress through the initial steps of the 12-step process. Some individuals are only in alcohol and drug rehab for a short period of time. Their goal is to have a solid foundation of these initial steps. One must come to terms with their addiction problem and realize that they are powerless against it.

An integral aspect of the 12-step process to recovery is to establish a connection with a higher power. However the individual conceives their higher power, this aspect is imperative. At Cirque Lodge, the focus is to provide vital spiritual experiences for our drug rehab clients. Such experiences create an internal shift. It changes convictions. It can make enduring the pains of the recovery process a little easier. Whether out on the mountain or in a therapy session, one can find their higher power to help them through the struggles of addiction.

After rehab, the 12-step process is continued through support meetings and programs. After completing the drug rehab program, the individual in recovery is once again tempted by the situations of their addictive lifestyle. The 12-step program can be a means of staying clean and sober. Cirque Lodge clients are prepared a continuing care plan, prior to leaving the drug rehab facility. A part of this continuing care plan is enrollment in a specific 12-step support program. Recovery from alcohol and drug addiction is a process, not an event. Through a solid connection with a higher power, and the support of sponsors and others, this process can be made a little easier.

A Caring Alcohol Rehab Environment

Struggling with Alcohol AddictionIt can require the helping hand of a loved one to get the alcoholic into an alcohol rehab program. There is a stigma with alcoholism where drinking is never viewed as a problem. Meanwhile, the alcoholic’s life continues to spin out of control. Extended alcoholism brings with a number of health problems, like diabetes, an increased chance of heart disease and cirrhosis of the liver. Alcoholism is unlike any other addiction. Alcohol treatment is strongly recommended. The negatives of alcohol withdrawal, as well as the negatives of extended alcohol abuse is life threatening.

A chemical dependence to alcohol can require a great deal of personalized and intensive treatment. A caring and comfortable environment can make a difference. The drug rehab and alcohol treatment program at Cirque Lodge goes to great lengths to restore hope and to invite healing into the alcoholic’s life. Treatment is personalized to address the specific addiction problems of the alcoholic. Discovering the Clients Needs

Personalized Addiction Treatment Helps with RecoveryTreatment at Cirque Lodge is focused on a personalized program. We are dealing with individuals with different backgrounds, as well as varying substance abuse histories. A cookie cutter approach to a drug rehab program just doesn’t provide the level of care that is needed. A focus on the individual needs yields much more specific results, and helps us as an addiction treatment facility, make effective breakthroughs.

When an individual is admitted into Cirque Lodge for treatment they undergo an initial assessment. This is a battery of tests that helps us get to know the individual better. A personality inventory is performed to help the treatment staff best determine the course of action for treatment. Also taken into consideration is the person’s history of drug and alcohol abuse. Treatment is tailored to address the alcoholic differently than addressing the needs of someone with a prescription drug problem.

The assessment process is prepared into a personalized treatment plan. It is tailored to address the needs of the client discovered through the admission and assessment process. Clients are assigned their own addiction counselor to carry out this plan. As progress is made through the drug rehab program, this plan is adjusted to assess the growing needs of the client. A genuine level of care can make an influential difference for the recovery process.

Continuing Care Plan in Drug Rehab

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

Prescribing a Contuing Care PlanOvercoming alcohol and drug addiction is not an event, it’s a process. Even after one has completed drug rehab, it still takes daily management to maintain sober living. Now each individual is different, but it still requires personal goals and efforts for a healthy recovery. At Cirque Lodge, the graduates of our alcohol and drug rehab facility are never left alone following treatment. Each resident is prescribed a continuing care plan for assistance in the recovery process.

Our aftercare specialists are constantly searching and providing the best forms of recovery programs. These are made available to residents once they leave the confines of our addiction treatment facility. This is prepared into a continuing care plan to be followed after rehab. Now just like addiction treatment at Cirque Lodge, the continuing care plan is personalized to address the needs of the individual. Some individuals can require additional therapy and treatment sessions, and such options are made available through this plan. Others just may need an effective 12-step group to attend meetings with. There are a million options when it comes to 12-step meetings in local communities. Our aftercare specialists seek to find the best fit for our residents in recovery.

High Ropes in Drug Rehab

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

High Rope Elements in Drug RehabCirque Lodge uses experiential activity as a tool to overcoming alcohol and drug addiction. Residents of the Cirque Lodge drug rehab facility engage in daily experiential activities that enhance the recovery process. Many of these experiential activities take place at the Studio facility. The Studio is a 95,000 square foot facility. This large facility allows us to perform experiential activities year round. The 17,000-foot sound stage hosts the world’s largest ropes challenge course in the world.

The ropes course is used for a number of things. There are both high and low ropes elements. The high ropes elements consist of a number of individual obstacles. Experiential counselors help drug rehab residents accomplish the feats of these high rope elements. One course ends with a descent to the floor via a zip line. Fellow residents cheer on and support as these feats are accomplished.

How does climbing and overcoming challenges 25-feet in the air assist with overcoming addiction? The simple answer would be that the obstacles represent the addiction, and overcoming the obstacles can be symbolic. A more complex answer, alcohol and drug addiction thrives in fear. The high ropes elements can create fear. This is a constructive way for individuals to overcome their fears. They can use this as a way to replace the fears of addiction in their own lives with accomplishments of productive living. Working on the ropes course is also a great deal of fun. It can be a needed release from the more rigorous elements of the recovery process.

Getting back into Balance with Drug Rehab

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

Man in Need of Drug Rehab ProgramAlcohol and drug addiction can do many adverse things to the personality and actions of someone. People who were calm and collected before are chaotic and unpredictable. Individuals who suffer from alcohol and drug addiction will go to great measures to defend their using. The result is odd behaviors that usually are unbecoming of the individual. A part of alcohol and drug rehab is to address these behaviors with therapy. A safe environment free from drugs can help to restore the balance to the addicted central nervous system.

Cirque Lodge offers a balanced alcohol and drug rehab program. Many elements of therapy and treatment are used to help the individual regain the balance back into their lives. One tool is the use of yoga. Yoga is an ancient practice of internal harmony, balancing the body, mind and spirit. This can greatly assist with restoring balance to the individual. Personalized therapies are also effective at treating some of the internal things. A lot of the times it is the underlying things that act as fuel for using. The experiences within drug rehab can help to create a spiritual change from within the addict/alcoholic. It can change the focus of life from the struggles of addiction to the joy of recovery.
