Stepping Forward with Extended Care

Overcoming alcohol and drug addiction takes time. For some, it takes more time than others, and still some others may require more personalized care to overcome the struggle. Cirque Lodge gives drug rehab clients a number of options. Not only is the addiction treatment program personalized to provide the most effective results, but the length of stay is also personalized. For clients in need of additional treatment, Cirque Lodge offers an extended care program at the Studio.
The extended care program at Cirque Lodge is a proactive approach to continued sobriety. Instead of reworking the steps of the 30-day program, addiction treatment is taken to the next stage of the recovery process. This includes working additional steps of the 12-step program, which builds a more solid foundation for recovery. A part of working additional steps is the involvement of outside meetings, and working with an addiction sponsor. The 12-step program is oftentimes the working tool required for a life of continued sobriety. Experiential activities are also a part of extended care, as well as some community and service activities. These things continue to replace the negative feelings caused by addiction with positive and constructive avenues of productive living.
Whether the drug rehab client requires extended care is left up to the individual. Studies have shown that additional time in treatment programs yields a beneficial result. Drug rehab clients at Cirque Lodge will be counseled on whether more time is needed or not, but ultimately the decision comes down to the client and their family. Through extended care clients can continue to work through successful recovery in a private and safe environment.

During the holidays everyone attends a number of parties. These parties are filled with friends and festivities and a lot of social enjoyment. Another thing these parties come equipped with is a lot of alcoholic beverages. For people with a drinking problem, this can be a difficult time. Such a social gathering can bring to light struggles with the bottle in the individual. It gives them a socially acceptable outlet to abuse alcohol. Such a drinking problem can be a pathway to alcoholism, when the body is chemically dependent on alcohol, and the craving is never ending. Alcoholism can be a life or death struggle, and rehab or some specific form of alcohol treatment, can be the only answer at saving that life.
For some individuals, drug addiction is just part of the problem. Many people who suffer from addiction also suffer from other co-occurring disorders. Psychiatric conditions can have a heavy hand in addiction. A disorder like depression can make the central nervous system more likely to develop an addiction to the feelings caused by drugs and alcohol. It’s like the disorder primes the brain for the influences of addictive substances. Alcohol and
There are a number of prescription drugs that can be habit forming. Abuse of such drugs can result in addiction. These drugs are meant to be helpful, but over time the body can develop a dependency to them. Vicodin is one such drug. Vicodin is the name brand for a drug containing acetaminophen (what is found in Tylenol) and hydrocodone, an addictive opioid. Physicians will prescribe Vicodin to address minor to chronic pain problems. Pain medications are typically meant to be a short term solution. With time, the narcotic effects of the drug can become the desired result of taking the drug. The pain goes away, but the individual still needs the Vicodin for the pleasurable feelings.
Cirque Lodge uses a number of experiential activities as a part of its addiction treatment program. The activities serve many purposes. One such purpose is to help in building support and lines of communication. The studio facility houses the world’s largest indoor ropes and climbing course. There are both high and low rope course elements. The low ropes help

The abuse of opiate drugs is continually a concern to society. Nowadays, the concern surrounds prescription medications that contain opiates or synthetic opioids. Heroin, however, is also an opiate that is abused, and continually used in society. Opiates are depressants. They slow the central nervous system and the functions of the body. Over time, abusing opiates can result in addiction. For most individuals, addiction can only be solved through treatment, like a residential
