Treatment for Addiction and Disorders

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

Addiction and Mood Disorders are a StruggleAlcohol and drug rehab at Cirque Lodge is dual diagnosis. We offer treatment for co-occurring mood disorders and eating disorders in those who struggle with alcohol and drug addiction. Psychiatric conditions such as depression, anxiety and bi polar disorder can be influential in developing addiction. The chemical make up of the brain is more conditioned to the affects of alcohol and drugs within the central nervous system, when such a disorder is present. Alcohol and drug rehab is tailored for residents to provide treatment and therapies for both conditions.

Many times, the alcoholic/addict is unaware of such conditions. It previously was not diagnosed, or the influence of alcohol or drugs on the central nervous system had suppressed them. The disorder is brought to light after sobriety is obtained and the feelings and emotions of the disorder are presented. In an alcohol and drug rehab setting, the first thing to do is properly diagnose them. This condition can be a result of addiction withdrawal, or can be a psychiatric issue. Proper diagnosis and treatment for the condition also helps in addressing the problems of addiction.

All treatment is personalized to help the individual on their own level. Those in need of dual diagnosis treatment are provided a program that addresses both the disorder, as well as their addiction problem. It used to be that mood disorders required a separate facility from those of an alcohol or drug rehab. With dual diagnosis at Cirque Lodge, proper treatment is supplied for mood disorders, all while receiving the finest in care and therapy for their addiction.

Alcohol and Drug Rehab, Meeting Needs

Personal Therapy SessionTreatment and therapy at Cirque Lodge is personalized to meet the needs of the individual. Many problems, challenges and issues can be influential factors in developing an addiction to alcohol or drugs. Traditional forms of treatment may not be able to help with these things on a personal basis. Our treatment team often emphasizes that alcohol and drug rehab at Cirque Lodge is not a ‘cookie cutter’ approach. We strive to provide the right elements of rehabilitation for each individual, on the level that they require.

Alcohol and drug rehab begins with an assessment of each resident. This assessment uses tests and inventories to determine the needs of the individual. The results of this assessment are used to create a treatment plan by our clinical staff. The program consists of a personalized treatment of the client with one-on-one therapies and a tailored battery of treatment, therapy and experiential programs. When people come to us for help, we want to provide them a personal care and an answer for their addiction problems. This is done with tailored alcohol and drug rehab to meet their needs, and a caring and committed treatment team.

A Different Addiction Treatment Experience

Friday, June 12th, 2009

Addiction Treatment at Cirque LodgeWhen a person is entering rehab for an addiction, they can have some negative feelings. Most alcoholics/addicts see addiction treatment as a form of punishment, and not as a means to getting better. The alcoholic/addict can go to great lengths to protect their addiction. They can have all sorts of misconceptions about alcohol and drug rehab. When they arrive at Cirque Lodge, the first thing they notice is how nice it is. Many of the negative feelings begin to fade away. This begins with the care of our staff, and how committed they are to our residents. Also the accommodations, food, and amenities help to do away with the punishment feel of rehab.

Cirque Lodge offers a little bit of a different addiction treatment experience. Sure it is alcohol and drug rehab, and many intensive therapies and programs are used. However, the treatment experience also teaches how to enjoy life without the influences of drugs or alcohol. We use fun indoor and outdoor activities to teach recovery strategies, and provide spiritual experiences. At Cirque Lodge, we want addiction treatment to be more than just a rehab stay. We want it to truly be a life changing experience. Such an experience can be a means to a long term recovery from drugs and alcohol.

New Heights with Alcohol Rehab

Cirque Lodge Helicopter and Mountain ViewOne of the unique activities at Cirque Lodge involves our private helicopter. Cirque Lodge has an EC130 Eurocopter that is used exclusively by the residents. It is a luxurious quiet and safe flying machine. When clients are working on their third step of the 12-step program, they are given the opportunity to achieve new heights with a helicopter flight. The third step focuses on turning over the problems and issues of addiction to one’s higher power. These helicopter flights take in the sights of the surroundings near Cirque Lodge. Many of these views can only be seen from this vantage point. It is unique activities such as this that help those in alcohol and drug rehab find vital spiritual experiences.

During this flight, the helicopter lands at a remote mountain location. Residents have the chance to hike along mountain peaks and experience the healing of the mountain. Some quiet time is observed where residents in alcohol rehab can go find a spot of their own and do some meditation. In this quiet setting, residents can have experiences in taking the necessary actions to achieve their third step. Residents are invited to leave something on the mountain. Some leave promises to their families. Others make the decision to change. Such experiences can be the means to an internal shift and a change from addiction to recovery.

Education on Alcohol and Drug Addiction

Lectures on Alcohol and Drug Addiction

The Cirque Lodge alcohol and drug rehab program consists of a number of things. Part of our addiction program is to better educate our residents on the nature of addiction. Most individuals are unaware of what alcohol and drug abuse is doing to them. Lectures and workshops are used to teach concepts on the nature and behaviors of addiction. A variety of topics are covered from a number of lecturers and visiting professionals.

Another area where we educate the residents of our drug rehab facility is with experiential activities. We have many venues for our experiential program. Some activities present a challenge to the individual, or to work as a group. When the task is completed, time is spent discussing the lessons learned through these activities. Some are intended to build communication skills. Others can help individuals in establishing trust. The purpose in educating the alcoholic/addict is to make them more aware of the damage, as well as the behaviors of being under the influences of addictive substances. This can be sobering and can assist in building towards long term recovery.

Rehab and Treatment for Prescription Drugs

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

Rehab and Treatment for Prescription DrugsSadly, some of the medications that are intended to help us can also hurt us. Many pain relief drugs and prescriptions that treat anxiety are habit forming. In recent years, the cases of those who have become addicted to prescription drugs have grown exponentially. In a drug rehab setting, we have seen this growth in the individuals we treat. Prescription drugs for the right reasons can be life saving miracles. However, over time a person is more likely to abuse these drugs for their narcotic effects and develop an addiction to them.

With the radical growth of prescription drug abuse, there has also been a rise in overdose deaths. This doesn’t have to be. Prescription drug addiction is treatable, and at Cirque Lodge we are dedicated to providing the highest levels of treatment and care. Those who suffer from prescription drug addiction are cared for on a personalized basis. A bevy of treatment and therapies are used to help arrest the disease of addiction and introduce coping strategies. The focus is to make drug rehab an effective and memorable experience.

To help individuals after they leave rehab, a care plan is created. This consists of elements and help for the recovery process. Guesting privileges are also provided for the recovering addict. This allows them to return to the facility for a few days and regain their focus on recovery. For those who suffer from an addiction to prescription drugs, treatment is available. Effective drug rehab can be a means to bringing an end to struggles of this growing addiction.

Internal Changes with Rehab at the Studio

Monday, June 8th, 2009

The Rose Garden at the StudioCirque Lodge consists of two facilities. The Studio was incorporated a few years ago to accommodate a growing addiction treatment program. In the summer months, the Studio has beautiful flower gardens and an organic vegetable garden for residents. They can spend some down time doing some reading in the gazebo, or can find a quiet place in the rose garden for meditation. As a part of the experiential program, residents can experience the serenity that is found in working in a garden. We strive to make alcohol and drug rehab at the Studio the best experience for residents. Such experiences can lead to internal changes for recovery.

We feel that overcoming alcoholism or drug addiction requires an internal change. All the therapy and 12-step work that goes into individual recovery just won’t work, unless that individual has the desires and wants to make the necessary changes. The experiences at Cirque Lodge are designed to invoke such changes. The residents of the Studio can have experiences that change convictions from those of addiction to those of recovery. Internal changes can happen on an activity involving the Cirque Lodge helicopter, or our elaborate ropes course. They can also happen during the quiet times in meditation in the rose garden, or sifting through the dirt of the vegetable garden.

Continuing on After Alcohol Rehab

Friday, June 5th, 2009

Creating a Continuing Care PlanWhen treatment for an alcohol addiction is completed, the person in recovery must continue to work at staying sober. Some individuals may think all they need is a drug rehab or an alcohol rehab program to get back on track. However, addiction isn’t something that goes away. Even after treatment is completed, the impulse to drink is still very present. The individual must take what was developed in alcohol rehab and utilize those strategies against the impulses to drink.

At Cirque Lodge, our clients are not left alone when they leave treatment. Each resident, prior to leaving the alcohol rehab facility, is provided a Continuing Care Plan. This plan consists of outpatient recovery and therapy programs to follow when treatment is completed. Each resident works with our aftercare staff on developing the right plan for them. Some individuals may require a sober living environment at first; others may require intensive therapies still. Aftercare works with each resident to prepare the most effective care plan for the recovery process.

At the heart of each Continuing Care Plan is enrollment in 12-step meetings and fellowships. Continued work with an AA group can supply the help and support needed to continue working at successful recovery. AA involvement can keep the recovered individual actively focused, as well as continually connected to their higher power. Our aftercare staff works with each resident on what they are looking for in a 12-step or AA program. Most residents have successful and active AA programs within their communities. Our aftercare staff seeks out these fellowships and implements them as a part of the Continuing Care Plan.

Reconnecting in Drug Rehab

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

Reconnecting Out On The MountainThe part of the 12-step process that is dealt with in drug rehab revolves around making connections to one’s higher power. At Cirque Lodge, this is done in a number of ways. People suffering from alcohol or drug addiction can be struggling spiritually in their lives. We strive to provide vital spiritual experiences that facilitate reconnecting to a power greater than one’s own. Because of the varying belief structures out there, residents of Cirque Lodge are invited to find their higher power in whatever capacity they feel comfortable.

The influence of nature and the mountain are used in making these connections. We give our residents many opportunities to get out onto the mountain and make these connections on their own. Many of our nature based activities teach concepts of 12-step recovery. They even give the residents a chance for alone time and personal meditation. A solid connection to one’s higher power can change the outlook on the recovery process. It can be the influencing factor in times of struggle, when the impulse to use is strong. Alcohol and drug rehab at Cirque Lodge focuses on providing experiences for the alcoholic/addict to make solid connections to their higher power.

Therapy for the Underlying Things

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

Using Therapies in Drug RehabA part of alcohol and drug rehab at Cirque Lodge is intensive therapies. Licensed and professional drug addiction counselors work with our residents in both private and group settings. These different therapies are used to get to the heart of the matter when it comes to alcohol and drug addiction. A lot of times, the addiction is developed due to another more deeply rooted underlying problem.

These underlying things can have a heavy influence on developing an addiction. A person struggling with a traumatic occurrence in their life, or someone grieving, can turn to drugs or drink as a way to medicate away the pain. The problem is that this doesn’t address the problem. It just suppresses it. Over time, more of the drugs or drink is needed, as the body has built up a tolerance. This abuse can lead to addiction, which compounds the problem in a whole new manner. A part of alcohol and drug rehab is to provide therapies to address these underlying things.

Personal, one-on-one therapy sessions are a part of our addiction program. In this setting, the resident works with their own personal counselor. This counselor is devoted to helping the resident address the underlying problems in their life, as well as address the influence that addiction has on these problems. Family therapies are also provided to help address some of the underlying problems there are within the home. The purpose of these therapies is to develop coping strategies for the underlying problems. These strategies can provide answers that do not rely on addictive substances to suppress the problem, but constructive ways for dealing with these difficult dilemmas in life.
