Recovery, Support and Cirque Lodge

Friday, July 17th, 2009

Serenity Prayer at a Cirque Alumni GatheringRecovery from alcohol and drug addiction is a process. The one thing people must always remember is that they are never alone. There is always help and support for those looking to stay sober. At Cirque Lodge, we are continually looking for ways to help our Alumni after they leave alcohol and drug rehab. Those who stay local to the facility can come to aftercare meetings that are held weekly. We also allow Alumni to come and participate in many of the elements of our family week program. Residents can even guest with us, free of charge, for a few days to regain their focus. These measures can provide support for the recovery process.

We want to stay in touch with our alumni to continually support them as they work at their recovery. An online social network called “Cirquelry” was developed to help alumni stay in touch with one another and Cirque Lodge. Throughout the year, we hold alumni gatherings in different parts of the country. Alumni in that area can come together for support and socializing. It helps those who have gone through the Cirque Lodge program to get in touch with fellow alumni in their area.

Support in recovery is found annually at our Alumni Reunion. All Alumni who have graduated from alcohol and drug rehab at Cirque Lodge are invited to return to the serenity of the mountains. For three days, a number of meetings, activities and delicious food are provided for Cirque alum. They help in rekindling the flame for recovery. Because of the success of our drug rehab program, this reunion continues to grow in attendees each year. All of these elements are not only in place to help our alumni. It also supports us to stay focused on our efforts of providing the best in alcohol and drug rehab.

Family Programs and Addressing Codependency

Addressing Codependency in Drug Rehab This week at Cirque Lodge is set aside for our family program. Residents of our alcohol and drug rehab facilities are encouraged to invite family members to participate in this highly effective program. The vast majority of those who struggle with alcoholism or drug addiction, as well as their family members fall into the behaviors of codependency. A part of family week is to raise awareness on codependent relationships and how they fuel the addiction fire. A family systems lecture and process therapies also help the family to set boundaries for the recovery process, and how to avoid enabling.

Codependent relationships can be a strong influence to alcohol and drug addiction. Such a relationship does not hold the alcoholic/addict accountable or responsible for their actions. Because of this, there are no boundaries regarding the alcoholic/addict’s behavior. Family members become either the victim or the accuser of this behavior and never let their addicted loved one become accountable for their actions. Codependency is a behavior where one individual acts as they are greater than another. It is a behavior that is ruled by fear.

The family program at Cirque Lodge is a helpful element to addressing codependency in the family structure. Family can begin the process of openly communicating while in an alcohol and drug rehab setting. Within this setting, the relationship is on an even level, where the family can communicate in love and support. They can begin to set the boundaries for the recovery process, and even prepare the way for proper support and love within the home.

Help and Healing Through Experiential Activities

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

Residents on an Experiential OutingAlcohol and drug rehab at Cirque Lodge is a balance of many addiction treatment elements. Experiential activities are incorporated into the more traditional forms of treatment. This provides an effective and unique approach to addiction recovery. These activities are used in a number of ways. Some of them are instrumental in teaching coping strategies. Others are used to provide vital spiritual experiences. Some are fun, some are challenging and some are therapeutic. Not everyone takes to treatment and therapy initially. It can take some time to admit that one is an alcoholic or addict. Experiential activities are a different measure of therapy that can have a profound impact on overcoming the addiction.

A number of things are learned and developed through participation in these activities. They require the individual to think outside the addiction and codependent mindset. They teach strategies for the recovery process, and show the need to ask for help. They give the recovering alcoholic or addict a number of opportunities to awaken their spiritual nature. Outdoor and mountain activities are used in making connections to one’s higher power. One of the most successful ways to overcome the struggles of addiction is to have a vital spiritual experience. The experiential program at Cirque Lodge seeks to provide those in alcohol and drug rehab a number of opportunities to gain such an experience.

Experiential activities also help in making alcohol and drug rehab a little more fun. Overcoming alcohol or drug addiction can be a difficult struggle. Intensive therapies can deal with underlying problems that are emotionally and psychologically trying. It can be quite relaxing and therapeutic to get away from it all, just for a short while, and experience the healing of the mountain.

Individualized Alcohol and Drug RehabPeople can be struggling with a lot of things other than just alcoholism or drug addiction. The use of drugs and alcohol helps to suppress these struggles. However, this doesn’t make these problems go away; it just suppresses them for a time. Different therapies and programs are used in alcohol and drug rehab to address these other struggles on a personal level. At Cirque Lodge, we do this by creating a treatment plan that is individualized for each resident.

Upon admission to Cirque Lodge, each individual must undergo an extensive assessment process. This process helps to determine a number of things regarding the alcoholic or drug addict. The results of this assessment are used in tailoring a treatment plan for the individual. At Cirque Lodge, a number of therapies, programs and activities are used to arrest the disease of addiction. The individualized treatment approach allows us to prepare a drug rehab program that meets individual needs on the level they require.

Personalized and one-on-one therapies are provided to help residents with their individual struggles. Alcoholism and drug addiction can be developed as a result of struggling with grief, suppressing traumatizing experiences, or a way to cope with a psychiatric disorder. Individualized alcohol and drug rehab allows for therapies for these underlying struggles. Our caring treatment team is dedicated to helping our residents to have the very best in an alcohol and drug rehab experience. This is an experience that is personalized to help the resident in their areas of struggle.

In Need of Alcohol or Drug Rehab

The very sobering realization of alcohol and drug addiction is that people die from this condition each and every day. The impulses to drink and use can get out of control. The result is excessive abuse of these substances that can lead to overdosing and poisoning the body. People who have become chemically dependent can suffer if the drug or drink of choice is no longer in the system. Withdrawal from addiction can make them very sick and even threaten their lives. No one deserves to live their life struggling to meet their addictive cravings, and ultimately, meeting their end because of alcohol and drug addiction.

Addiction is treatable. Unfortunately, so few actually seek the help of an alcohol or drug rehab program. There are so many programs that are available to help alcoholics and addicts overcome the fears that are brought on by drinking and using. Intensive therapies can make life saving advances in properly rehabilitating those who struggle with addiction. All the while, proper support is put into place for the recovery process. Cirque Lodge is a leading alcohol and drug rehab facility. We can help you or your loved one with a caring addiction treatment program and life changing experiences.

Help your loved one today. It is never too soon to get them the help they need for addiction. Make that call.

Learning Lessons on Recovery from Horses

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

Working With Horses in Alcohol And Drug RehabThe Cirque Lodge experiential program is a profoundly effective aspect to our alcohol and drug rehab experience. These unique and challenging activities help too teach important lessons on recovery and problem solving skills, which require the alcoholic/addict to think outside the mindset of addiction. Part of the experiential program involves working with horses. The horse stables are at the Studio facility, and indoor and outdoor venues allow for equine therapy year round.

In working with the horses, Cirque Lodge residents gain exactly what they need from the experience. Initially, when the resident and horse are presented to each other it poses a challenge. The resident must gain the trust of the horse to participate in the exercises. This is a challenge and a lesson in itself. Horses are creatures of flight, and the resident in alcohol and drug rehab must learn to gain trust. The individual must put aside imposing his/her will and use more direct communications with the horse. Another part of this process is asking for help. Members of our equine team are available to help the resident. This provides a lesson in seeking help with things that are beyond the addict’s/alcoholic’s control.

Through this exercise, the resident makes a connection with another living creature. The horse that was initially unresponsive, and fleeing away from the resident, is now walking side-by-side with the resident and willing to submit to any commands. Overcoming alcohol and drug addiction is a process. Making this connection with something like a horse can provide a vital spiritual experience. Such experiences can be influencing factors to long term sobriety.

Bringing an End to the Drinking Problem

Monday, July 6th, 2009

Cirque Lodge for the Drinking ProblemFor some individuals, this past Independence Day Weekend was an event celebrated with alcoholic beverages. Sadly, others don’t need a celebration to drink. These people struggle with a drinking problem and alcoholism on a daily basis. Perhaps they have tried to cut back, but the impulses to drink and the sickness that comes from withdrawal wouldn’t allow them to stop. Bringing an end to the drinking problem can be difficult without professional help. Alcohol rehab and drug rehab programs can be the answer to those who are struggling.

Cirque Lodge provides an effective and unique balance of alcohol treatment and recovery programs. Alcohol rehab is personalized to meet individual needs. It consists of a bevy of intensive therapy programs to arrest the disease of addiction. In addition, programs are provided to build needed support for the recovery process. Cirque is founded on a 12-step recovery program, and alcohol rehab is broken into a number of individual, group and even family therapies. The unique difference to the Cirque Lodge program is the use of experiential activities. These are recovery programs used through various indoor and outdoor activities. They are remarkably effective at helping those struggling to overcome alcoholism.

Overcoming a drinking problem can be a process. Addiction is an ever present condition that requires a self control, even after alcohol rehab is completed. However, the positives of sobriety far out way the difficulties of continuing a life of alcohol addiction. When the recovering alcoholic is ready to leave rehab at Cirque Lodge, they are provided a plan to continue the recovery process with help and support. The sobering truth is that people die from this every day. It doesn’t have to be this way. An effective alcohol rehab program can be a means to bringing an end to the drinking problem.
