Guesting, Return and Refocus

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

Falls Near Cirque LodgeRecovery from alcoholism and drug addiction can be a challenging task. For some it can take more than one trip to rehab. For others it can be a long struggle before the seeds of recovery truly begin to take root. At Cirque, we strive to help those who have been through our alcohol and drug rehab program. There are different privileges given to those who have successfully completed the program. One such privilege involves guesting at our facility in the resident’s time of need.

The Guesting Privilege is free of charge. It is available to alumni who have stayed sober and need some time to refocus on their recovery. Former residents can return to the facility for up to 96 hours, receive treatment and take part in recovery activities. This time can be just the thing needed to get back into focus and working a recovery program. Some residents have also used the Guesting Privilege as a time to return to the facility and celebrate a milestone in their recovery. We strive to stay in touch with our alumni, and with the Guesting Privilege we can continue to help them as they undertake the recovery process.

Alcohol and Drug Rehab with Extended Care

Extended Care Takes Place at the StudioAlcohol or drug rehab at Cirque Lodge starts with a 30-day program. For some, this may not be enough time in an addiction treatment setting. For those who require additional rehab help, Cirque offers extended care. Prior to completing that first 30-days, residents and their family can work with counselors on whether additional time is needed in alcohol or drug rehab. More time in this type of setting greatly increases the chance at a long term sobriety. Many programs are changing to a 90-day format to more successfully help clients. At Cirque, we leave this option up to the resident and their family, but provide continuing and extended care when needed.

All alcohol and drug rehab is based on the needs of the individual at Cirque Lodge. For residents in extended care, this personalized approach continues with the help and support of our unique and effective program. Residents still work personally with a primary counselor, while additional elements of social and recovery programs are introduced. It is a continuance in stepping forward with the recovery process and not just reliving the 30-day program over again.

The 12-step program is a large part of treatment to those in extended care. The focus is to help individuals have a solid foundation of the initial steps. Once this established, the concepts of the 4th and 5th steps are introduced. These steps involve individuals taking a personal inventory. In the evenings, extended care residents become more involved in 12-step meetings and working with a sponsor. Time in sobriety is needed to obtain successful recovery. Our extended care program can be the time needed for our residents to achieve this.

12-step Work at Cirque Lodge

Cirque is founded on the modality of the 12-step program. Individuals in treatment are introduced to these concepts and during alcohol or drug rehab begin to attend 12-step meetings. Time in rehab can be used to help individuals in making the initial steps of this recovery process. This involves admitting that there is a problem that can not be controlled, and developing a relationship with ones higher power. At Cirque Lodge, we strive to provide individual with the spiritual experiences needed in developing such a relationship.

In the evenings Cirque residents can attend 12-step meetings while they still are receiving addiction treatment. Those in extended care are even assigned a temporary sponsor to work with. A sponsor can be a critical cog in continuing the steps and providing needed personal support. When rehab is completed, Cirque residents are already down with program to some extent and hopefully willing to continue the recovery process. Aftercare also helps them in finding appropriate meetings in their home community, and getting them involved there. With this help and support, one can continue to make the strides for a lasting and successful recovery.

Experiential Work and Recovery

Experiential Snow Shoeing Activity

Part of alcohol and drug rehab at Cirque Lodge is our experiential program. We use indoor and outdoor activities to promote recovery and enhance the connection of body, mind and spirit. A challenging ropes course, art, nature, horses and even a helicopter are all used in providing a therapeutic and instructive recovery element. It also helps to make alcohol and drug rehab a little more of enjoyable and life changing experience.

We offer many different types of experiential activities. They are designed to help individuals within the terms of their own physical conditioning. As the recovery process continues, the overall health of individuals can also improve. We introduce new and more challenging experiential work. Some of these activities are intended to teach skills for the recovery process. They challenge the behaviors that were developed with addiction with behaviors conducive to the concepts of recovery.

We’ve talked of how experiential work helps with body and mind. Most importantly experiential therapy provides experiences for the spirit. The alcoholic/addict can be at quite low ebb spiritually when they enter alcohol or drug rehab. We use nature as a healing element and concepts of the 12-step program to promote a spiritual recovery. These activities can influence vital spiritual experiences. These create an internal shift and great emotional displacement. The ruling forces of addiction are replaced with new concepts of recovery.

Daily Sober Goals

Experiencing the Joys of Recovery

Maintaining sobriety is not easy. It takes work and dedication. After alcohol and drug rehab is completed, the alcoholic/addict must continue to work at daily sober goals. Being a part of a 12-step fellowship can help with this. One common sober challenge that Alcoholics Anonymous put out there is 90 meetings in 90 days. This can keep the individual in recovery with a daily focus on working at their sobriety, and continually working their program. The initial weeks and months following an alcohol or drug rehab stay are the most critical. Daily goals of sobriety and attending meetings can be a solid form of relapse prevention.

A daily sober goal is a focus on the matter at hand. It isn’t relishing on the problems of the past, or fearing for the future. It’s focusing on the day and accomplishing sobriety within those 24-hours. Recovery programs are available, counseling is also available throughout all of this. A 12-step group will provide a sponsor to help with step work and to keep the individual connected to support and their higher power. Cirque Lodge even allows for residents to return and to guest with us when needed. In time, the impulses to drink and use lose their clout. The driving forces become more about helping others achieve the same in sobriety.

Caring Alcohol Treatment Counselor

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

Working With a Caring Primary CounselorWhen individuals are admitted into the Cirque Lodge program, they are assigned a primary counselor for their stay. Counselors work personally with our residents and help them with proper treatments and therapies. At Cirque, alcohol treatment and drug rehab is provided by licensed professionals. Primary counselors are licensed in the field of addiction treatment and in performing caring therapies. They provide residents one-on-one help on a personal and confidential level.

The process of alcohol treatment can be very difficult at times. It means giving up something that has an emotional and psychological attachment to individual. A caring counselor can help in providing support and direction for the recovery process. Treatment and therapy also is needed in addressing some of the underlying problems that can have a hand in addiction. Counselors are experienced in dealing with trauma, grief and co-occurring psychiatric conditions.

Alcohol treatment is tailored to meet individual needs, and to help residents very specifically. A caring counselor is involved throughout the individual’s stay at Cirque Lodge. They strive to exceed every expectation with therapy, support and care. They are even involved in creating a plan for life after alcohol rehab. Cirque Lodge offers an effective and unique recovery program. It is the dedication and care of our staff that this so.

The Cirque Lodge in Sundance Utah

Overlooking the Sundance Ski Resort in Utah is a safe haven for those suffering from alcoholism or drug addiction. The Cirque Lodge is a nationally recognized treatment center. The way we go about alcohol or drug rehab has helped many to find a successful means to recovery and a life changing experience. It is a balance of intensive therapies, loving support and enjoyable experiential work. All of this is provided in a luxurious and comfortable setting in the mountains.

The Lodge is a limited enrollment facility for men and women. The majority of the rooms are shared. Shared accommodations are helpful in providing residents with support for the recovery cause. However, we also understand an individual’s need for privacy. Those who would like the highest levels of privacy for their alcohol or drug rehab stay can receive a private accommodation. This comfortable mountain retreat has the feel of a private resort. That is a private resort dedicated to the intensive treatment of alcoholism or drug addiction.

The Lodge provides residents with many different enjoyable venues and amenities. There’s a gym/workout facility, sauna and jetted hot tubs. There is also a media room (a theater style room for watching movies on occasion). The Lodge also provides a delicious and gourmet culinary program, that is conducive to the luxurious feel of the facility. Perhaps the most unique venue of this private alcohol and drug rehab is the meditation room. This room sits atop a log circular stairway. It has 360 degree views of the surrounding mountains and the ski resort. Residents can come here to do some thinking, soul searching and make connections to a power greater than one’s own.
