Friday, January 29th, 2010

Time in alcohol and drug rehab provides individuals with proper therapy, rehabilitation and care. It also gives the individual a much more in depth education on what addiction is and how it affects the body.  At Cirque Lodge, so much goes into our addiction treatment program. Part of this balance is an education on the nature of addiction and the recovery process. This education goes beyond just the classroom setting.  Lessons are also learned by being out in nature, working with horses and a number of other challenging activities.

Much has been discovered about the disease of alcoholism and drug addiction. Lectures and workshops are used to help the individual better under what addiction is all about. This education is just a small part of alcohol and drug rehab at Cirque Lodge. Combined with the more therapeutic elements it provides awareness and coping strategies for the recovery process.

Drug Rehab for Meth Abuse

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Methamphetamine is a highly addictive drug. Whether it is a traditional form of meth or “crystal” meth made in clandestine home labs, individuals can suffer from the struggles of abuse and addiction with this drug. Cirque Lodge provides a caring drug rehab program for those struggling with meth abuse. Meth is a stimulant. It heightens the awareness and energy of the individual. Large doses create a sense of euphoria caused by the dopamine system in the brain. It is a fast acting drug, requiring more and more abuse to maintain the high.

At Cirque Lodge, drug rehab for meth abuse begins with an individualized approach. We use a professional assessment and treatment plan in meeting individual needs with therapy and care. Treatment is founded on the 12-step program. This is balanced with effective forms of group therapy, family programs, and cognitive behavioral therapies. Meth abuse is arrested and rehabilitated within the caring environment of a world class facility.

Since meth addiction and abuse isn’t something that can be cured, programs and recovery elements are put into place after the completion of rehab. Cirque Lodge provides a continuing care plan, full of outpatient types of treatment help, to keep the meth addiction in remission. This involves continuing the recovery support of a 12-step fellowship and meetings. There are support groups and programs that specifically work with individuals in recovery from meth abuse. Before completing drug rehab at Cirque Lodge, these programs are sought out and prescribed within the continuing care plan.

Private Facilities, Confidential Drug Rehab

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

Private Facilities at Cirque LodgeOne element to Cirque Lodge that is taken very seriously is a client privacy. Our staff is continually educated in upholding a very private and very confidential alcohol and drug rehab program. Residents of our facilities greatly benefit from this as they undergo treatment and care for their struggles. This begins with private facilities. Both the Lodge and Studio provide residents with the highest levels of privacy. For individuals in need of the utmost privacy, we even offer a private room and accommodation.

Privacy is also observed in treatment. Each resident works through their own personalized treatment plan. This is a confidential plan that is maintained between resident and clinicians. Cirque is founded on a 12-step approach. One of the traditions of this approach is anonymity. This is observed and maintained within the alcohol and drug rehab at Cirque Lodge. Through the years this observance has been utilized in treating high profile members of society. However, all clients of the Cirque Lodge are provided this very same private and confidential treatment program.

Drug Rehab for Individuals and Families

Monday, January 25th, 2010

Cirque Lodge provides help, care and support for individuals and families who are suffering from the malady of addiction. The individual is treated with a caring and effective inpatient drug rehab program. The family is cared for through the efforts of a week long family program.  Family Week takes place every three weeks of treatment. This allows each and every resident of Cirque Lodge an opportunity to invite their loved ones a time or two to be involved in Family Week.

The family program is a week long program of activities geared towards family education, treatment and help. The loved one may not know this, but their influence can be very polarizing, either positive or negative, on their loved one. Family Week helps to educate on things like enabling and codependency. It takes a look at the break down of the family system, and even educates on the importance and need for aftercare. Family members can become more aware of their influence and focus on the positives for the loved one’s recovery process.

Family Week is also a chance for family members to experience Cirque Lodge and drug rehab first hand.  Breakfast and lunch are provided each day for family members. Family also has the opportunity to engage in a number of different experiential activities and challenges. There are also personalized therapy sessions for the family to deal with some of their struggles. These therapies are provided in a caring environment with clinical professionals. A lot of things go into making the experience at Cirque Lodge an effective tool for recovery. The family element to drug rehab is definitely one of them.

Addiction Treatment and Learning from Horses

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

Most people don’t think of horses when it comes to addiction treatment.  At Cirque Lodge, horses are very much a unique and effective piece to alcohol and drug  rehab. Blended in with the traditional and clinical forms of rehabilitation,  Our experiential program has shown a very successful and life changing ability. The horses are a foundational piece to this experiential learning. The recovering alcohol/addict can have very intimate lessons in trust, communication, establishing boundaries and learning to ask for help. This all comes from working with horses.

Horse therapy in addiction treatment can be a process for the alcoholic/addict.  In this situation, the bigger, stronger, faster horse will not allow the individual to get their way. The process is putting aside the mindset and behaviors of addiction and utilizing a mindset that asks for help and establishes boundaries. This can be a process for some. However, in the end, a strong connection can be made between the individual and the horse.

The interesting thing about the equine portion of Cirque Lodge is that it can have a varying effect on people. One individual may get a completely different experience out of it than another. Nonetheless the experiences still have a deep impact on the individual. It is a lesson that can be  used as a skill set in communication; things that can be used within the recovery process.

Support and Care in Alcohol Treatment

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

Overcoming the disease of alcoholism is a struggle.  For some wishing to overcome those problems, the struggle is lessened with a caring facility and alcohol treatment program. At Cirque Lodge, this is taken to a whole new level with fine facilities, caring staff and life changing experiences. A thorough treatment program is utilized to arrest the disease. This includes personal therapies that take deeper looks into the alcohol abuse problem, as well as other underlying factors.

Each resident of the Cirque Lodge facilities is surrounded by a supportive and caring staff.  Residents work personally with staff throughout the alcohol treatment stay. Through the staff, a resident can find caring support for all the problems and struggles that arise from taking on a sober lifestyle. There are times when this can be a real struggle. Caring staff members are always available to help with these struggles, provide support, and meet individual’s needs.

Life changing experiences can come when the alcoholic really involves themselves in the recovery program. Not all of alcohol treatment at Cirque Lodge takes place in the confines of a therapy room or support group. The recovering alcoholic has a chance to get out into nature and discover the healing of the mountain. An experiential activity helps to make the rehab process more fun and provides needed lessons in recovery strategies. The fears and pains of alcohol abuse are replaced with positive developments and joys of sober living.

Recovery Activities in the Studio Gym

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

Gymnasium at the Cirque Lodge StudioAt Cirque Lodge’s Studio Location, a gymnasium serves many purposes. Residents in drug rehab have a number of opportunities to exercise and spend some time in recovery activities. The Gym itself can be used for volleyball and basketball activities during downtime. The southern wall of the gym is lined with a number of heavy punching bags and workout equipment. These are utilized by personal trainers, which are available for circuit training workouts and a wellness program.

The Gym is also a venue for yoga based activities. Yoga is a very extensive exercise and also a practice of balancing body, mind and spirit. These different elements are used as treatment options for residents in primary and extended care. Residents in extended care may want to become more involved in physical activities and how they function as an effective strategy against relapse. Working with a trainer and yoga can be practices that are taken and utilized outside the walls of rehab in daily life.

Extended Care in Alcohol or Drug Rehab

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

30 days in alcohol and drug rehab may not be enough time for some individuals. Some may benefit much more from a 60 or 90 day treatment plan. Extended care programs at Cirque Lodge are step forward and not a step back.  Personalized treatment is continually tailored to address individual needs, as the individual begins to on the additional steps of recovery. Extended care usually occurs at our Studio facility in Orem Utah, which is also home to a number of local 12-step meetings. A part of this care is to become involved with a 12-step fellowship and even work with a sponsor.

Many alcohol and drug rehab facilities have changed their curriculum to a 90-day program. Studies have shown that longer stays in rehab yield more successful results.  At Cirque, we still leave that up to the client and their families. However, our clinical staff and counselors are available to discuss extended treatment stays and can make professional recommendations for residents if needed.

When an extended care stay is completed, the resident is provided a Continuing plan for their recovery process. This plan consists of additional elements of outpatient help and recovery groups. Each resident can work with our aftercare staff in coming up with an effective plan for their recovery process. Cirque alumni are also given a lifetime privilege of guesting at the facility, when they need a little additional help for relapse prevention. For many individuals suffering from alcohol or drug addiction, the 30-day program is just not enough. At the Cirque, extended care and additional treatment is available.

12-Steps in a Mountain Rehab

Monday, January 18th, 2010

Treatment at Cirque Lodge is founded on the 12-step program that was originally developed by Alcoholics Anonymous. When an individual comes into alcohol or drug rehab, they are taught about the disease of addiction and introduced to the 12-steps. We use nature based activities in our experiential program to teach concepts of recovery and lessons from the Big Book.

After the resident has been at Cirque Lodge for a time, they are allowed to attend 12-step meetings and can begin working with a sponsor. This can lay the groundwork for working with a 12-step fellowship and sponsor after alcohol or drug rehab is completed. The network of 12-step groups and programs available in communities after rehab are a solid measure for relapse prevention.

The initial steps of recovery (the ones that are primarily covered in alcohol and drug rehab) deal with individuals making connections to a higher power. Cirque Lodge is not a religious program. We allow individuals to find a higher power in however they conceive it. That is one of the reasons we use experiential activities and nature in our addiction treatment program.  It can help the individual in making connections to that power greater than one’s own. Such connections can provide the experiences and internal changes needed to truly recover from addiction. The 12-steps lay the groundwork for this to happen.
