Personal Help for the Alcoholic/Addict

Monday, March 15th, 2010

The focus at Cirque Lodge is the personalized treatment of the alcoholic/addict.  While individuals suffer from the common malady of addiction, their vulnerabilities can be very different. A rigorous assessment is used to determine the needs of the individual. Professional tests and diagnosis is used in determining these needs. This is then used to lay out a treatment plan for that individual.  These needs can vary depending on emotional, psychological and behavioral factors.

Also taken into account are other factors the individual is dealing with. A psychiatric disorder is addressed with dual diagnosis programming. Personalized therapies are also used in addressing trauma or dealing with grief. Personalized care strives to bring awareness to these vulnerabilities and to address them with proper therapies and recovery programs.

Each client is assigned a personal counselor during their treatment stay. Counselors meet with clients during the week in addition to normal programming for one-on-one counseling sessions. They oversee the treatment plan and see to it that each client is receiving appropriate care for their needs.  Addiction and alcoholism is a complex and aggregate issue. A personalized approach to alcohol or drug rehab can help to provide the individual with care they specifically require.

Teaching and Learning in Drug Rehab

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Lectures and workshops are used to better educate the addict on drug abuse, alcoholism and addiction. The individual may be unaware of what their abuse is doing to their central nervous system or their behavior. Part of alcohol and drug rehab at Cirque Lodge is to better educate the alcoholic/addict for the recovery process. They better learn the concepts behind the disease of addiction. Also addressed are different influences and behaviors that are a result of this type of substance abuse.  Upon completion of treatment, it is our hope that each individual has a full understanding of the nature of addiction and what is needed for recovery.

Members of the Cirque’s treatment team, visiting professionals and members of the recovery community all provide fun and engaging lectures and workshops for residents and family members. We strive to make these lectures as enjoyable as they are educational. Object lessons and engaging speakers can help the individual in better understanding their condition and what is required for abstinence and recovery.

Similar workshops are used to teach individuals about the recovery process as well. Cirque Lodge is founded on the 12-step program. Much of the emphasis of treatment is placed on individuals finding their path through this modality. At Cirque, we use the mountains and nature to help drive the point home of spiritual recovery and working the steps. A balance to educational, clinical and the 12-steps help to provide individuals with what they need for long term sobriety.

An Active Alcohol and Drug Rehab Program

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

Cirque Lodge offers an active alcohol and drug rehab program. One thing we require of clients is that they are physically capable to take part in a number of our experiential elements. Alcoholism and drug addiction can do adverse things to an individual physically. In addition to supplying recovery for the mind and spirit, Cirque’s active program provides recovery for the body. Each day, residents of our facilities can take advantage of exercise and experiential work that promotes a physical recovery.

The majority of each day in drug rehab is designated to treating the disease of addiction. At Cirque Lodge, this is done a little differently with the use of experiential activities. Experiential work provides a new way to develop skills needed for recovery. It also helps by providing exercise and improving ones health. Residents can even work with fitness instructors during free time to improve overall wellness. Some people come to rehab in pretty bad shape. The balance to Cirque Lodge provides them a recovery for their mind and spirit. The active approach offers recovery for the body.

Aftercare Workshop for Family

Friday, March 5th, 2010

The final day of Family Week at Cirque Lodge begins with a workshop on aftercare.  Time spent in alcohol or drug rehab is just the beginning of a life of sober living. Initially, this can be a difficult process to start. The aftercare workshop helps the residents and their family to better understand continuing treatments and support for the recovery process.

There are many forms of aftercare that can benefit the alcoholic/addict in recovery. The key point being that the individual pursues these things after they leave the safety of the rehabilitation facility. Many individuals move into a secondary facility, like a halfway house or sober living home after treatment. Outpatient programs, therapists and support groups are also available to the recovering individual. Many find needed support through continuing the 12-step program through fellowships like Alcoholics Anonymous.

The aftercare lecture also addresses the family and the recovery programs that are available to them. Family works their own 12-step program as well. These individuals can find support through programs like Al-anon, which is a program geared specifically for family members and loved ones of alcoholics and addicts.  The family can work at recovery together with the help and support of such programs. It can make the home environment more conducive to the recovery process and the goals of a life long sobriety.

A Balance to Drug Rehab and Treatment

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

At Cirque Lodge, an effective balance goes into addiction treatment and drug rehab. It begins with the needs of the individual. Each client is rigorously assessed prior to treatment. This is used to create an individualized treatment plan for them. In personalizing the treatment plan, each individual is provided with one-on-one therapy sessions with a licensed counselor and family sessions during our Family Program. This is platform for dealing with some of the personal and traumatic problems that addiction can have a hand in.

Support is introduced through differing group based therapies and 12-step recovery programs. The residents of our facilities function as a community. Counselors and staff are also available for support when needed. The balance of group elements can be workshops all the way to more intensive therapies. Members of the group can focus on supporting the individual in their times of struggle.

A different type of treatment and recovery work is balanced into all of this. The more intensive and traditional forms of rehabilitation are combined with the unique and enjoyable experiential activities offered at Cirque Lodge. Each day, residents have the opportunity to participate in a different activity. These fun and engaging elements are used to teach recovery concepts and skills for self management. Shaping pottery, flying in a helicopter, swinging from a giant pendulum swing, and even working with horses are all used to teach lessons of recovery.

There is a unique balance to Cirque Lodge. It is the balance of the traditional, intensive and experiential that has helped many find a means to long term recovery.

Programs for Families and the Recovery Process

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

Family members play an integral role in their loved ones recovery process. However, the family member may not be aware of how they can do this. Good intentions can also be an enabling behavior. Alcohol and drug rehab at Cirque is for more than the individual. It is also for their loved ones. When an alcoholic/addict enters rehab at the Cirque, their family is also invited to attend our specialized program for families.  It is a fairly frequent program that occurs every three weeks of the treatment cycle.

Family Week consists of a lot of things. It is four days filled with workshops, fun experiential activities, specialized groups and therapy sessions. With this programming the family can be better educated on the nature of addiction and how they can help through the recovery process. Personalized sessions are used to help the family tear down the walls that were built up by the addiction and to begin healing. This can be difficult for some, but ultimately can be extremely therapeutic and a foundation for continuing recovery.
