Drug Rehab with an Indoor Ropes Course

Friday, April 30th, 2010

The ropes course at Cirque Lodge rests inside a 17,000 sq. ft. sound stage. There are two large wooden tripods that extend to the heights of massive room. Between these tripods are a series of challenges and climbing elements. The ropes course is used as an aspect to Cirque’s experiential program. Those in drug rehab learn skills for recovery through these hands on experiences and challenges. The high ropes elements can be used as tools in conquering personal fears and asking for help and support.

The experiential staff works with clients through all aspects of these high rope elements. The staff is trained, certified and very experienced in working with clients on the ropes course. The experiential team also provides different cognitive and 12-step lessons as aspects to high ropes challenges. It enhances the experience and keeps the challenge centered on elements of recovery. Some of the high ropes challenges are a team based activity. Residents must work together to accomplish a feat. Once again, the building of support is a learning point within this challenge.

High ropes also come with fun and exhilarating activities. There is a zip line that descends to the floor of the soundstage. After completing a climbing challenge, the finale is a zip line ride back down. The ropes course also has a giant swing suspended from the 40 ft. ceiling. Residents use pulleys to raise the individual to the high point they fill comfortable with. It is then up to the individual to release the swing that sends them flying across the ropes course. The course is fun and instructional. It is regularly inspected to maintain the most effective and safe experience for clients.

Drug Rehab at the Cirque Lodge Studio

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

Cirque Lodge consists of two treatment facilities, the Lodge itself and the Studio. The Studio is a larger enrollment facility for those in need of alcohol or drug rehab. After Cirque Lodge was established, the demand became just too great on one small lodge.  A renovation to a massive television and movie production studio made it ideal as an addiction treatment center and drug rehab. The Studio also provided offices for the day-to-day running of Cirque’s ever growing recovery program.

The Studio facility is 200,000 sq. ft. It provides ample accommodations for both men and women seeking treatment for an addiction. The renovation to the building added a third floor, which houses both the women’s rooms and a fine kitchen and dining room. Men’s accommodations are located on the first near the Jacuzzi, sauna and gym. Additional amenities are provided for residents within the studio facility as well. There is a media room, where clients can watch movies, and a game room with billiards and alike. The Studio also has a working salon for resident’s hygienic and esthetic care. A lot goes into providing the very best for residents during their drug rehab stay at the Studio.

The discussion can go on all day about the niceties of Cirque’s Studio facility. However, the focus of this facility is on treating alcoholism and drug addiction. Each resident undergoes an intensive and individualized addiction treatment program. There is a balance of many forms of individual, group and family elements utilized to treat this condition. Balanced into this program is the use of experiential learning activities. The Studio facility provides indoor venues for such engaging experiential work. Things like an indoor ropes course, a horse arena and art room are all venues at the Studio used as experiential learning tools. If there’s someone in your life who is in need of an addiction treatment facility, the Cirque Lodge Studio can provide them with a comfortable treatment experience. More importantly, the Studio can provide them with the treatment needed to arrest their disease of chemical dependency.

Extended Treatment and Continuing Recovery

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

Extended care is available for Cirque residents who would like more time within a treatment center. 30 days of treatment may be enough for some. However, a 60-90 day program allows the individual to focus more on the recovery effort and making life changing decisions. Many treatment centers have changed their alcohol or drug rehab curriculum to that of a 90-day program. Cirque Lodge is based on a 30-day program, however our clinical staff is more than happy to make a professional assessment and recommendation on whether more treatment is needed.

Extended care at Cirque Lodge continues the work of the 30-day program. The resident’s personalized treatment plan is continued and the individual begins on the additional parts of the 12-step program. A greater effort is taken in establishing the coping mechanisms needed for strong relapse prevention. Residents also begin to work within the local 12-step community and spending time with a sponsor. Extended care also helps to reintegrate the individual into society as a sober person.

With either the 30-day program or extended care, treatment at Cirque Lodge is complimented with a Continuing Care Plan. This is a plan of action for pursuing long term recovery. There are many elements and programs available to help with relapse prevention. Cirque Lodge works with the individual in creating this plan. Some may need a sober living environment as a part of their recovery process. Others may need more personal addiction therapy and treatments. Residents work with an aftercare coordinator in preparing this plan. Follow ups are also performed to see how the individual is doing with continuing their recovery process.

Recovery Up on the Mountain

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

The Cirque’s unique location provides a lot of things. The mountains provide privacy for those in alcohol and drug rehab. They provide a venue for recovery activities. They also offer a majestic place for healing and spiritual connections. Residents of the Cirque Lodge have many chances to get out onto the mountain in many different ways. Each excursion can provide a different activity for learning and connecting to one’s higher power. Nature can help with healing. A recovery activity in the mountain can help to drive home the points of the alcohol and drug rehab experience.

Mountain activities provide residents of Cirque Lodge a chance to experience this beautiful area on a first hand basis. The mountains, meadows, waterfalls and quiet places can be venues for addiction recovery. Unique activities are provided to get to these venues. It can be the destination of a hike, a river ride, by mountain biking, or even by a trip in a private helicopter. These places are capped off with lessons from the Big Book and chances to share recovery experiences. These mountain excursions have shown to be profoundly powerful to Cirque residents. It provides a completely different perspective for self discovery and enlightenment for the recovery process.

Treating the Co-Occurring Disorder

Monday, April 26th, 2010

Alcohol abuse and drug addiction may not be the only thing the individual is dealing with. The drinking and the drugs can be the front to a deeper problem; even a way to self medicate such things. Many individuals who are struggling from alcoholism or drug addiction can also be diagnosed with co-occurring disorders and psychiatric conditions. Some individuals are even unaware they have such a problem until they enter a treatment program.

Cirque Lodge is a dual diagnosis facility. This means we treat for co-occurring conditions while treating the disease of addiction. This begins with a thorough admissions and assessment process to determine individual needs. Cirque has medical and psychiatric professionals on staff to prescribe, when needed, solutions for the co-occurring disorder. The delicate chemical buildup of the central nervous system is affected by these things. Either condition can greatly increase the chances that a co-occurring problem can develop. Individuals who have been diagnosed with a psychiatric disorder are more likely to develop an addiction and vice versa.

The advantage to dual diagnosis treatment in an alcohol and drug rehab is for those who are completely unaware they have such a condition. Perhaps this has never been diagnosed before, or the lengthy abuse of drugs and alcohol has masked such feelings. Once in treatment, and the drugs and alcohol are no longer in the system, the individual can experience these conditions. Professional assessments and diagnosis can help to determine if this is a disorder or addiction withdrawal. Cirque utilizes a personalized and caring program to determine these vulnerabilities within clients, as well as properly treat for them.

Horses, Rehab and Recovery

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

One of the unique experiential pieces to Cirque Lodge is our horse program. This is a very unique and intimate activity for those in alcohol or drug rehab. Other elements of experiential learning use a group and provide a different challenge for a number of people. The equine program pits one individual, one horse, and one of our equine staff in the activity. The resident must overcome their typical addictive mindsets, reactions and behaviors to work with the horse and gain its trust. This process can establish a strong bond and teach needed lessons for recovery.

Gaining the trust of the horse can be quite the process. The addict/alcoholic can become frustrated with the horse at first. A member of our equine staff is on scene to help them, but only to a certain extent. In this way the individual can fully gain the benefits of the exercise. Horses are keen animals and may not be willing to submit initially to the individual. The exercise takes on a whole new meaning when a bond is established and trust is formed.

The horse program is a unique opportunity. Residents are not always working with the horses. They have the chance to participate in equine therapy a small number of times while they are in treatment. This helps with the sheer magnitude of this activity. It always seems that no matter the struggles, or personal situations the alcoholic/addict is dealing with, they gain exactly what they stand in need of from the horse exercise. Some residents even use part of their free time to go out to the fence and be close to the horses. This is just one of the many unique experiences and opportunities found at the Cirque. Such opportunities can provide solutions for the struggles of alcoholism or drug addiction.

They can develop the skills and tools needed to maintain a sober lifestyle. All the while, a caring and dedicated staff works with them in dealing with the struggles that comes the initial stages of sobriety.

Upon completion of alcohol or drug rehab at the Cirque, the newly sober individual is provided a plan of action for the recovery process. This consists of additional programs and treatment elements to help the individual when they return to their daily lives. The negative influences will still remain in society and relapse is a very real possibility. It is our hope that the time spent and skills learned here on the mountain can be the elements needed for long term goals of recovery.

Opportunities for Change

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

To overcome the struggles of alcoholism or drug addiction, a change has got to come from within. There isn’t a set time or way this change happens. For some, it is when they hit bottom, for others, it is when they begin to earnestly work their recovery process. Cirque Lodge offers alcohol and drug rehab for individuals who are struggling with chemical dependency. We strive to give residents of our facilities a number of opportunities to have such an internal change. This comes through a personalized effort and a bevy of effective and unique forms of a recovery program.

At the Cirque, a number of traditional elements of alcohol and drug rehab are utilized to treat residents. This is balanced in with experiential learning activities and a family program to provide a wide spectrum of opportunities for change. The process for change is not always an easy one. It quite oftentimes can be a struggle. Residents of the Cirque are surrounded by a caring staff, committed to providing them with the very best care and support available.

The experiential program provides a different take on recovery and internal changes. It is a program that calls upon the majesty and healing of nature and challenges the alcoholic/addict to find spiritual changes from within. This is only the beginning, however. Each individual must continue to work at their recovery and make these changes a part of their daily lives. Treatment at the Cirque Lodge can provide the foundation for this change. However, it takes the commitment and effort of the individual in the long term before these changes truly take hold in their life.

Help Your Loved One with Intervention

Monday, April 19th, 2010

Planning an InterventionGetting a loved one to enter a treatment program for alcoholism or drug addiction is oftentimes easier said than done. The alcoholic/addict can go to great lengths to protect their addiction and using. Because of this, suggestions of alcohol or drug rehab can be met with a great deal of hostility. Performing an intervention can provide the help needed for that struggling loved one to agree to treatment. It provides an environment for open and honest communication and concern.

Using the services of a professional interventionist is greatly recommended. An interventionist brings with them experience in working with the many different reactions and behaviors that can occur within these situations. Interventions are carefully prepared and planned. They are carried out in a manner of motivation and with a great deal of love. Studies have shown a large success rate in interventions as a vehicle for alcoholics and addicts agreeing to treatment.

Cirque Lodge works with a number of the nation’s leading intervention services. Our admissions office can help you in determining an intervention to meet your needs. Many intervention services do not just end with performing the intervention alone. They also offer monitoring during treatment and support services and therapies after treatment is completed as well. If there is someone struggling with addiction in your life, perhaps it is time to get them the help they deserve. This can begin with a carefully prepared and motivational intervention.
