A Winter Drug Rehab Activity
Snow shoeing is one of the winter activities we use in our experiential program. Experiential activities are an integral part of the alcohol and drug rehab program offered here at Cirque Lodge. In recent weeks, the mountains surrounding Cirque Lodge have received ample amounts of snowfall. Our experiential counselors take out select drug rehab clients to embark on a snow shoeing activity. This time is used to talk and discuss. It gives the addict/alcoholic a chance to get away from it all and to just enjoy something different for a change.
The purpose of many experiential activities is to provide what the Big Book describes as ‘vital spiritual experiences’. Such experiences can create an internal shift and a change of convictions. This change can turn the individual away from drinking and using and direct them in a positive light towards recovery. A snow shoeing activity can be just the activity for a vital spiritual experience, and help the recovering drug rehab client connect with their higher power.
