Overcoming the struggles of alcoholism can take a great deal of time, personal sacrifice and efforts. Over the years, the abuse of alcohol can create significant changes to the individual emotionally, psychologically and physically. For such individuals, a long term approach or program can be beneficial and even lifesaving. For many this begins with the efforts of an alcohol rehab program and continues through support programs and the help of sober living arrangements. Finding successful sobriety can be long road, but one that is paved with treatment and support for those who truly wish to end their drinking struggles.

The program of alcohol rehab usually will begin with some sort of detoxification. Alcohol needs to run its course through the body and the individual stabilized before beginning a therapy/recovery program. In dealing with alcoholism you can also be dealing with very negative withdrawal effects when the substance is no longer in the system. The process of detoxification can be a life measure against these withdrawal problems. The length of stay in a detox center can depend on the severity of alcoholism and what it takes to stabilize the individual.

After detoxification, the program should involve the efforts of some sort of treatment or alcohol rehab. There are many types of programming available to treat those struggling with alcoholism. It can be quite advantageous to enroll in a residential type of addiction treatment program for dealing with alcoholism. Residential facilities provide a controlled environment away from the influences of alcohol. Treatment approaches can also vary. Many programs have integrated services into treatment, allowing the alcoholic to take advantage of a number of programs and therapies to arrest their disease. The length of stay in treatment can also depend on the severity of the alcoholism and the progress of the individual. Many alcohol and drug rehab providers offer extended care programs to accommodate long term treatment needs.

When treatment is completed, the alcoholic once again is faced with the influences and problems that led them to drink in the first place. A long term program for alcoholism will continue through outpatient programs, sober living environments and through involvement in self-help type of programs. The predominant self-help group available for the recovering alcoholic is AA, which takes advantage of a 12-step program. Most recovery oriented alcohol rehab providers are founded on the 12-step approach as well. Alcohol treatment facilities and providers usually will offer recommendations on aftercare programs and continuing the efforts of treatment and recovery.

Such recovery can be a long term and life long process and it can seem daunting. However, many alcoholics, each and every day are discovering a means to leaving the bottle and finding paths to recovery and productive living. There are programs and opportunities available to the alcoholic that can help them deal with their struggles. Perhaps it is time to help the loved one struggling with alcoholism is your life.

We all know someone who struggles with drinking and abusing alcohol. These struggles can vault out of control without proper help. Alcohol abuse and alcoholism are treatable and many are discovering program that have helped them to get and stay sober in their lives. Treatment usually comes in the form of an alcohol rehab or drug rehab facility. This is coupled with efforts of detoxification and recovery programs like AA.

Sadly, many who struggle with drinking do not get the help they stand in need of. There are stigmas built up around alcohol and in the mind of the alcoholic about treatment. The alcoholic can see going to rehab as a punishment. They may not see their drinking as a problem; meanwhile this drinking continues to escalate and the alcoholic’s life begins to further spin out of control. Treatment for alcoholism has greatly changed in recent years. Alcohol rehab facilities have also changed to provide a comfortable environment, continuing programs to help with long term sobriety, as well as services that address co-occurring mental health disorders that may be present.

Many alcohol rehabs are founded upon the modality of the 12-step program and Alcoholics Anonymous. The integration of the program with clinical treatments provides a platform for continued support and recovery programs after alcohol rehab is completed. The recovering alcoholic is provided a sponsor to work with and most communities have several daily and weekly meetings to attend for continued support. Alcohol rehab facilities also provide a number aftercare programs, additional outpatient helps and personal therapies for the recovering alcoholic. Treatment is available. Such efforts can be a life saving measure from the many physical damages and emotional struggles that stem from alcoholism.

Holidays can be a challenging time for those who are in recovery from alcoholism. In these times of celebration, those striving to stay sober can be faced with triggers and situations that can make things difficult. The Cirque Lodge alcohol and drug rehab center wishes everyone a safe, and for those in recovery, sober Memorial Day Holiday. Here are some suggestions of things to help with support and prevention for those seeking to sustain their sobriety.

Go to a Meeting – The A.A. Meeting finder can help you locate a local meeting in your area by entering your zip code. Those who are close to Cirque’s Studio alcohol and drug rehab location are free to attend the meetings that are offered at this facility. This Friday evening is our month-end A.A. Speaker meeting held in the Ropes Course.

Call Your Sponsor - If you are currently working with a sponsor, perhaps there are activities you two can take part in.

Read the Big Book – If it has been awhile, perhaps this long weekend is a chance to get in a reading. Something helpful could be to put your recovery story paper, like found in the Personal Stories of the Big Book.

Get out into Nature – There is healing in nature. A nature based activity this weekend can be a chance to get out into a beautiful and serene environment. It can be a place to meditate and connect to your higher power.

There are many other ways and means to stay sober this holiday weekend. Perhaps it can be a time to observe and commemorate those who have gone on before us. Perhaps this can be a weekend to not just celebrate those who have sacrificed their lives for our lands and our homes, but also for those A.A. pioneers who showed the ways to sobriety and a better way of living. Once again, have a safe and sober holiday.

You can read and see the news stories of the many different types of drugs that are being abused and the alarming growth of prescription drug addiction. That being said, still the largest of substance abuse issues is that with alcohol abuse and alcoholism. A recent nation-wide study sponsored by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration reported that 42.8% of those referred to alcohol rehab and drug rehab programs by the criminal justice system were related to alcohol. It is regularly available and socially acceptable to drink. Sadly, many people become addicted and struggle with problems of drinking and with alcoholism for the rest of their lives.

Alcohol addiction is a chronic condition developed in the brain over time. There are a number of factors that can play a part in developing a dependence on alcohol; heredity, upbringing and environment, the amount that is being consumed, and social factors are just a few. Alcoholism is when the individual becomes dependent on drinking to maintain normal function. Without alcohol in the system, the body can begin to withdraw. Depending on the severity and the history of drinking, withdrawal from alcohol can become life threatening. It is wise to receive medical detox and treatment when coming down off of drinking to reduce the risks of severe withdrawal symptoms.

Alcohol addiction and alcoholism are treatable. A number of programs have been developed over many years to help alcoholics reduce and eliminate their need to drink. For many, this begins with an alcohol rehab or drug rehab stay. Much advancement has been made in treating alcoholism with therapies and counseling programs. Residential treatment and rehab for alcoholism can be a life saving measure. Support and a plan for recovery can also be found through the Alcoholics Anonymous program. Many millions of alcoholics have found a means to sobriety through these steps and fellowship.

If you are not sure if drinking is a problem or if you are addicted, begin by asking yourself these questions. Answers of ‘Yes’ can be areas for concern:

1. Do you drink alcohol multiple times a week? Daily?
2. Do you more often than not drink more than you should?
3. Have others expressed concern about your drinking habits?
4. Have you ever felt guilt or remorse after drinking?
5. Do you need a drink early in the day to calm you nerves or feel confident?
6. Have you ever had a black out (loss of memory) as a result of alcohol consumption?
7. Do you have to take time off of work as a result of drinking?
8. Have you ever been treated medically from problems stemming from drinking too much?
9. Is drinking used as an escape from responsibilities and worries?
10. Have you ever been arrested for problems relating to excessive alcohol consumption?

Do you think you drink too much too often? Need to cut back? Have others ever bugged you or criticized your drinking habits? Do you need a drink to calm your nerves, psyche yourself up, or just to feel normal? If you answered yes to any of these, you may have a drinking problem, or even an addiction to alcohol. In the United States, the struggles and numbers of alcohol abuse far exceed the struggles of any other form of drug addiction. What you must realize is that there is help for the drinking problem. It doesn’t always mean alcohol rehab or drug rehab is needed, but here are some suggestions on ways to get help.

Talk to Your Doctor – Medical professionals can help you with a drinking problem. They can help with assessments and referrals to proper programs. There are even medication solutions for alcohol dependence that a medical professional can prescribe. Doctors can even recommend where to turn for proper addiction and alcohol rehab services if they are needed. Many local communities supply services and support programs for the public who are dealing with drinking problems.

Attend an A.A. Meeting – Alcoholics Anonymous provides a worldwide fellowship of men and women who share their strength and experiences in sobriety. Attending an open meeting is free of charge, non-confrontational and can provide a fellowship for those struggling with the bottle. Even if admitting that there is a drinking problem is still a long way off, perhaps experiences shared in a 12-step meeting can still be beneficial and strike a chord that is close to your own. Alcoholics Anonymous even provides 12 questions to determine if it is the program for you.

Intervention – If it is a loved one who is struggling with alcohol, an intervention can be required to help them. Most alcoholics will not seek out help for a drinking problem without some means of intervention. A loved one, an employer or even legal issues can supply the motivation and intervention needed for getting help. If it is a loved one or a friend, a planned intervention can supply an environment for addressing concerns and expressing the need for care before the problem continues to escalate.

Detoxing – A good measure of help is to get the alcohol out of the system. Detoxification is a way to medically stabilize an individual while the toxins of alcohol run their course through the body. Detox also helps to address symptoms and problems of withdrawal. With alcoholism withdrawal, symptoms can be very severe and life threatening in some cases. Medical detox facilities provide an around the clock care and emergency help for dealing with the many different symptoms of alcohol withdrawal. After completion of detox, one can assess their craving to drink. If it is one that cannot be controlled, professional care can be the only means to suppressing the impulse.

Residential Treatment – When the drinking problem is chemical dependency or an addiction, professional care and treatment can be required. The leading alcohol rehab and drug rehab programs are provided within a residential treatment facility. Residential rehabs provide a bed and a controlled environment away from the struggles of alcohol. Programs are laid out to assist with recovery and to provide resources and tools for sober living. Many residential treatment programs offer the entire package of helps for a drinking problem. This can begin with detoxification services and can extend through providing aftercare programs when treatment is completed.

It is never too early to get help for a drinking problem. If it is one that concerns you, the above suggestions can be a means to help. Many millions of people struggle with drinking and alcoholism. Treatment is a valuable resource for those who struggle, but sadly less than 10% actually do seek out help for their problems. The sobering reality is that alcohol abuse and addiction claim lives each and every day. There is help and programs available. The time to start is now.

Alcohol or drug rehab is an effective means to dealing with the problems of alcoholism. However, some may not know of how to go about this for either self or for a loved one. People may not even know where to begin. Looking online for information is a great start. These are five suggestions for getting help with the drinking problem. These helps are merely suggestions for looking into services available in the forms of alcohol rehab and treatment.

Consult your medical professional – Most doctors should be able to supply you with information about available addiction treatment options. With alcoholism, detoxification is usually a part of the rehabilitation process. A doctor should be of help in finding a medical detox facility.

Consult a Spiritual Advisor/Religious Leader – Spiritual and religious leaders should also be able to supply proper information on addiction treatment that is available. Many support groups like Alcoholics Anonymous and similar alcohol recovery programs are also available at community locations and spiritual/religious places of worship. These institutions can supply support for the drinking cause and also information on treatment programs, when treatment is needed.

Look into Community Programs – Many communities offer rehabilitation programs and counseling to the public. For those who do not have the means to pay for professional care or alcohol/drug rehab care, community based programs can provide a start to overcoming the struggles of drinking. Such information should be found by contacting a public health department or local social services.

Contact Treatment Centers Directly – For those who have the means, a private alcohol rehab or drug rehab stay has many advantages. Most addiction treatment centers have information available online about their services. You can also contact most alcohol treatment facilities directly to inquire about their services.

Intervention Services – This suggestion is for those who have a loved one with a drinking problem that require help. Performing an intervention can be a means and motivation to agreeing to treatment. The use of an interventionist can greatly increase the success of this coming about. Interventionists can also offer help in deciding on alcohol rehab facilities and treatment options.

Cirque Lodge, a private alcohol rehab and drug rehab facility in Sundance Utah wishes you and yours a joyous and sober holiday. For those in recovery from alcoholism, a sober holiday can be a struggle. There’s a lot celebration and a lot of drinking going on. Even an innocent party can become a trigger. Outside of a drug rehab setting, the alcoholic can find means to staying sober during this festive time.

Meditation – One thing taught in alcohol and drug rehab at the Cirque is the use of meditation as a recovery tool. When faced with the triggers of drinking, one can take time out to think, focus and breathe. Focusing on one’s breath can provide a calming effect in dealing with such stresses. Even with such a joyous and celebratory time of year, it can be stressful. It is always good to take some time to focus and get centered.

Go to a Meeting – Even during the holiday season, there are 12-step meetings available to those in recovery. Some fellowships even plan their own sober parties and activities through the holiday. (This year, the Cirque even offers a New Year’s shindig for alumni who have completed alcohol and drug rehab). Attending a Meeting can help to provide a focus back on recovery. A supportive environment can help in dealing with the stresses and triggers that are found in everyday life.

Call a Sponsor – A sponsor can play such an integral role within the recovery process. When faced with struggles, a sponsor can be a means to personal support through the difficult times. A sponsor provides a sober example and a means to continuing the step work of the recovery process. Sponsoring a fellow alcoholic only provides them with more strength towards their own recovery.

Cirque Lodge is here to help those in need of alcohol rehab or drug rehab. This time of year can be a time when those with alcohol problems can display their need for help. It is a time of celebration, office and family parties, and for many of us, a time to celebrate with spirits. Someone with an alcohol problem can drink to excess all too often. Through the eyes of a loved one or coworker, this may be a place for concern. Studies show a greater increase this time of year in alcohol consumption, as well as subsequent alcohol related problems. Always be sure that you have a designated driver, drink responsibly and in moderation.

For those who struggle with an alcohol problem and for those in recovery, this time of year can be particularly difficult. Watching everyone else in celebration with the loaded eggnog and buttered rum can act as a trigger. Those in recovery must always remember that there is help. They can call their sponsor or attend a meeting. They can also become involved in service that is so prevalent this time of year as a means of maintaining a spiritual focus.

For those who have a problem with alcohol, or feel they should cut down on their drinking but can’t, there is help through alcohol treatment and drug rehab programs. Cirque Lodge is among the leading addiction treatment centers in the entire world. Let us help you or your loved one who is struggling with alcohol dependence during this holiday season. Alcohol dependence is a serious issue. Millions are affected by it. Time within a caring alcohol rehab facility can provide a foundation for sobriety and a more productive way of life. In the long run, this time of year won’t be a struggle. It will be a time to celebrate the joys of recovery with friends and loved ones.

Cirque Lodge is dedicated to treating individuals and families who are struggling with the problems of alcohol abuse or alcoholism. A private and exclusive alcohol and drug rehab facility in the mountains provides a safe haven away from the struggles of the bottle. Alcohol addiction is by far the biggest issue when it comes to chemical dependency. Addiction treatment and an alcohol rehab stay can be a life saving measure. At the Cirque Lodge, this rehab stay is provided within the very best treatment environment and incorporates one the of the most caring and unique recovery programs.

The estimate of people in the United States alone that can be classed as having an alcohol problem is in the millions. Sadly, relatively few seek care for their addiction struggles. Alcohol abuse can create sort of a stigma. In their own eyes, the alcoholic doesn’t see their drinking as a problem. Meanwhile, everything around them begins to slip out of control. It doesn’t have to be this way. A caring alcohol rehab or drug rehab stay provides a foundation for sobriety. Programs are put into place to arrest the disease of alcoholism. Caring therapies are utilized to take a deeper and more thorough look at the drinking problem.

Sobriety takes time; it takes personal sacrifice and effort. This can be a difficult process without a proper means of support. This support begins with the care of alcohol rehab treatment. With Cirque Lodge, an aspect of the recovery plan is the transition into the support of Alcoholics Anonymous. Alcohol or drug rehab provides a start to the 12-step process and introduces the traditions that have helped many find successful recovery. After addiction treatment is completed, these steps are continued through the efforts of the individual with the support of AA community.
