Continuing Care and Recovery Plan

Wednesday, September 21st, 2011

The Cirque Lodge in Sundance UtahA stay in alcohol or drug rehab is only the beginning of the recovery process. The programs and therapy of addiction treatment helps to arrest the disease and prepare the alcoholic/addict with skills they can utilize in relapse prevention. After completing treatment individuals are once again faced with the struggles of the world and triggers that could lead to relapse. This is the nature of addiction. At the Cirque, a plan is created to help individuals with additional avenues of support, outpatient programming and sober living. The plan is to assist with transition and creating a solid foundation for recovery.

When residents of the Cirque Lodge are nearing the end of their drug rehab stay, they begin to work with their counselor and aftercare coordinator on a Continuing Care Plan. This plan takes what was developed at treatment hear in the mountains and extends it to wherever the individual is going to reside. Many graduates of the programs choose to remain close to the Cirque facility to be a part of our aftercare programs that are offered. For those who are returning home, aftercare will coordinate these efforts with local professionals, programs, sober living houses and local AA or NA fellowships. These elements are prepared into the Continuing Care Plan that the Cirque graduate can take advantage of.

A central role in the efforts of continuing the recovery process is involvement in Alcoholics Anonymous or similar 12-step oriented support group. Cirque Lodge is very much a 12-step facility. A good portion of an alcohol or drug rehab stay is introducing the 12-step program and establishing a foundation for continued recovery. In coordinating the efforts of a Continuing Care Plan, aftercare seeks out the right meetings for clients in an effort to make transition a little more seamless. Proper support can be an essential piece to staying sober and staying connected to a higher power. The efforts of the Continuing Care Plan are intended to help graduates of the Cirque to maintain such support and connection.

The Care of a Treatment Staff

Monday, September 12th, 2011

Members of the Cirque Lodge StaffThis past weekend Cirque Lodge held its annual Alumni Reunion here in the mountains of Utah. Alumni from all over the place returned to alcohol and drug rehab facility for a weekend of recovery activities. It is also a chance for alumni to come back and share time with the members of staff that played just a small part in their process to getting clean and sober. Cirque Lodge offers an effective and spiritual approach to treating drug and alcohol addiction, but one thing that sets it apart as a treatment facility is the level of dedication and the efforts of the staff.

We understand it can be difficult to enter into an alcohol treatment or drug rehab facility. Some are even forced into treatment by circumstances involuntarily. The care of the treatment staff is there to make clients feel comfortable and that their needs are met. When you come to the Cirque, you are surrounded by a staff that is willing to work with you and to meeting your physical, emotional and spiritual needs. The Cirque Lodge staff consists of many caring individuals that work privately with clients throughout their treatment stay. Caring counselors provide private therapy sessions and help individuals with a personalized treatment. Overcoming the struggles of alcoholism, drug addiction and co-occurring dual diagnosis disorders is not an easy thing. At the Cirque, those struggling are surrounded with individuals willing to support and to help them on a number of levels.

Many of the Cirque staff is in successful recovery from their own battles of addiction. Some are even alumni of the Cirque Lodge or Studio facilities. They have walked a very similar road to those who are dealing with the problems of chemical dependency that come to Cirque for treatment. These members of staff can be an integral example of recovery and the work that it takes to obtain it. There are many things required in finding recovery from struggles of addiction. With the Cirque Lodge program you find many of these aspects administered by a well-respected and committed, loving staff.

Rehab and Recovery Month

Wednesday, September 7th, 2011

Serenity Prayer at the Cirque Lodge ReunionSeptember is designated as recovery month in the United States. A number of different activities, programs, fundraisers and events are put on by different organizations to recognize those in recovery from drug and alcohol addictions and mental health disorders. At the Cirque Lodge drug rehab facility, recovery month is the time we hold our annual alumni reunion. This weekend, an ever growing number of Cirque Lodge Alumni will return to the serenity of the mountains and rekindle the flame of recovery. It is an amazing event that we all look forward to each year.

Recovery Month is also a time to reach out and help those who are still struggling with the disease of alcoholism and the problems of drug abuse. Addiction is treatable. Recovery is attainable. Through the years, Cirque Lodge has helped many individuals and families address the struggles of chemical dependency, as well as introduce the 12-step program to help the same individuals maintain a successful long term recovery. This effort does not happen overnight, but through work and support individuals have shown a remarkable ability to recover.

If there is a loved one in your life dealing with the struggles of alcohol and drugs, let recovery month be a foundation to helping them. Discover local events that may be going on in your community that you can attend together. Take them to a local Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. If treatment is needed, we encourage you to contact proper alcohol and drug rehab providers to learn about rehabilitation options. A call to Cirque Lodge can provide you with answers to questions and information about this private and exclusive addiction treatment center nestled in the mountains of Utah.

Rehab Foundation for the Recovery Process

Thursday, August 4th, 2011

Alcohol and Drug Rehab at Cirque LodgePart of alcohol and drug rehab treatment is to lay the foundation for the recovery process. Time in addiction treatment is not nearly long enough to overcome the struggles and the impulses of drinking and using. Most professionals say that such impulses take about a year of sobriety before they begin to lessen some. In most cases, rehab is just a few months and then outpatient/aftercare types of programs after that. 12-step communities can be an integral piece to the success of such sober living after rehab is completed. Most alcohol and drug rehabs are founded on the 12-step program. Part of treatment is to introduce this program and to get the alcoholic/addict pointed in the right direction for continuing these steps and working on recovery.

Cirque Lodge is a 12-step facility. The balance of treatment and experiential activities are used in a number of ways to incorporate into the steps of recovery. When clients are established in treatment they are introduced to the 12-step program. They can become involved in outside meetings and even working with a temporary sponsor. To continue this effort after rehab is completed, a Continuing Plan is developed. Efforts are coordinated within the client’s local community to continue with meetings and a sponsor when appropriate. Alcohol and drug rehab provides treatments to arrest the disease of addiction. It can also be the foundation for getting onto and staying on proper paths of recovery.

Gratitude in Recovery

Wednesday, July 13th, 2011

Gratitude in RecoveryFor alcoholics and addicts to overcome the struggles of their drinking and using, it can be necessary to practice new dispositions, mindsets and attitudes. One area of change that is often emphasized is with developing gratitude in the recovery process. For most alcoholics and addicts, the ‘attitude’ of gratitude can start with alcohol or drug rehab. In rehab the alcoholic/addict is introduced to the 12-step program and the greater recovery community at large. It is in the setting of this community where gratitude can more fully be developed.

With the program, the recovering individual is introduced to many ways they can make conscious efforts to develop gratitude in their lives. This is done through meeting attendance, working with others and through efforts of service. With such a practice, the self-absorption that can be found in the behaviors of seeking and using drugs begin to fade. The hopelessness and despair that were once ruling forces can be replaced with a deeper appreciation for the joys of life and for others. After all, gratitude is considered one of the greatest of virtues.

Recovery can require time each day to focus on matters at hand and to get centered. Recovering alcoholics/addicts can take this time to make a list each day of the things they are grateful for. By listing 20-25 things each day it can help to keep the focus on gratitude, helping others and importantly their own sobriety. Those in recovery can also use the service of helping fellow alcoholics/addicts who may be struggling to develop gratitude in their lives. They can offer time working in drug rehab treatment centers, by being a sponsor, or just supporting newcomers at meetings. There are many aspects that go into relapse prevention. Practicing gratitude in recovery can be a very powerful one.

Coping Skills and Support

Tuesday, May 10th, 2011

Part of alcohol or drug rehab treatment is to help provide the individual with coping skills and support for the recovery process. The impulses to use or to drink do not subside when alcohol treatment or a rehab is completed. It still takes a life long commitment, time and personal effort. The initial time after leaving an addiction treatment program can be when the individual is most vulnerable. Within a rehab environment, different programming and therapies are used to teach coping strategies for the recovery process.

Cognitive and Behavioral therapies help the alcoholic/addict to develop such skills. These therapies take a look at an individual’s strengths and try to build upon them. They also address the individual’s thought processes and behaviors and works to change these elements through different means. At Cirque Lodge, experiential therapy is used to also to teach different strategies and skills that can effectively be used for coping within the recovery process.

Family programming can also play an important role. Family members can be a very positive influence and support mechanism during the initial stages of living clean and sober. Many drug rehab providers offer family treatment and workshops aspects for residents and their loved ones. Additional family therapies and support groups after completing rehab can continue with an environment of recovery within the home, as well as helping with communication.

Perhaps the most used and available form of support and coping for alcoholics and addicts are 12-step based meetings and fellowships. Most communities in this country have fellowships of weekly and daily meetings for those in recovery, like Alcoholics Anonymous. Fellow Alcoholics and addicts gather to share their strength and experience. They support one another through the common problem of addiction. Such programs can also provide a personal sponsor for working through the initial days, weeks and months of this process. It is a personal support in times of struggle and also a means to working the steps and finding the way to long term sobriety.

Continued Efforts for Drug Addiction

Thursday, April 28th, 2011

Continued Efforts for Drug AddictionDrug rehab is just the beginning of the recovery process for many. The chronic make up of drug addiction requires this process to be a continual effort. The most critical stage of this effort is within the first few weeks and months after completing a drug rehab stay. Most treatment providers will supply additional aftercare or programs to help the recovering addict to continue their efforts.

After completing a drug rehab program many transition into a sober living environment to continue their recovery process. A sober home provides a place to return in the evening that is focused on the recovery effort. Such facilities can vary in their makeup, but the environment allows the individual to pursue their efforts in work or school and have a home environment still centered on clean and sober living. Sober houses can also provide additional forms of outpatient care.

The recovering addict can also transition from an inpatient\residential drug rehab into an outpatient program to continue care. With outpatient programs, the addict stays at home (or sober living home) and is supplied treatment depending on the program. Outpatient programs can vary in intensity. Treatment can be a few hours each day, or can just be a few times each week. Aftercare programs can also involve additional therapies from an addiction counselor or recovery program.

For most individuals, the recovery process is continued in great effort through involvement in 12-step meetings. The largest effort of such organizations is Alcoholics Anonymous (which is opened to those who struggle with forms of drug addiction). There are also more specific 12-step fellowships that focus on particular drugs of addiction. The 12-step program provides a way to continue this recovery process. The individual is surrounded with a supportive environment of fellow addicts willing to help. Newcomers can also find help through sponsors and the countless many continual events, activities and meetings supplied to support recovery.
