Drug Rehab with an Art Room
Experiential activities are used as a part of Cirque’s drug rehab program. These activities provide a number of venues for developing recovery skills and addiction coping strategies. One such venue is the art room at our Studio facility. In the art room, drug rehab clients work on projects with a master level artist. The art room is equipped with pottery wheels, where individuals can work with clay. It can help to recover some of the motor skills that are affected by alcohol and drug abuse. We even have our own kiln to fire and glaze the pottery.
What is seen by working with clay is a progress for recovery. Pottery requires a great deal of attention and detail. This can help the addicted mind to focus on something else, other than using. When a client begins pottery, they are basically a novice. A simple ashtray is what is created. As they go through the process of the drug rehab program, you can see the improvement in their pottery as well. The ashtray evolves into a beautiful and colorful pitcher, pot, or bowl. This is a keepsake that can remind them of the progress they made to overcome their fight with alcohol or drug addiction. Our art room is just one of the many unique venues we provide our drug rehab clients. Such venues greatly enhance the personal recovery experience.
