High Ropes in Drug Rehab

High Rope Elements in Drug RehabCirque Lodge uses experiential activity as a tool to overcoming alcohol and drug addiction. Residents of the Cirque Lodge drug rehab facility engage in daily experiential activities that enhance the recovery process. Many of these experiential activities take place at the Studio facility. The Studio is a 95,000 square foot facility. This large facility allows us to perform experiential activities year round. The 17,000-foot sound stage hosts the world’s largest ropes challenge course in the world.

The ropes course is used for a number of things. There are both high and low ropes elements. The high ropes elements consist of a number of individual obstacles. Experiential counselors help drug rehab residents accomplish the feats of these high rope elements. One course ends with a descent to the floor via a zip line. Fellow residents cheer on and support as these feats are accomplished.

How does climbing and overcoming challenges 25-feet in the air assist with overcoming addiction? The simple answer would be that the obstacles represent the addiction, and overcoming the obstacles can be symbolic. A more complex answer, alcohol and drug addiction thrives in fear. The high ropes elements can create fear. This is a constructive way for individuals to overcome their fears. They can use this as a way to replace the fears of addiction in their own lives with accomplishments of productive living. Working on the ropes course is also a great deal of fun. It can be a needed release from the more rigorous elements of the recovery process.
