Making That Internal Change
At Cirque Lodge, we feel that recovery from alcoholism or drug addiction requires an internal change. This change creates a shift; the once ruling forces of the addiction are replaced with new concepts and values of sober living. Some may find this internal change easier than others. Some may have to work throughout the recovery process to find this shift. Those who come to us for alcohol or drug rehab are given many opportunities to experience this internal change for themselves.
Each individual is different, and different experiences provide either rewards or struggles. At Cirque, we use an experiential program with so many different venues for learning recovery and maybe creating that internal shift. We have activities that challenge the behaviors and mindsets of the addict/alcoholic. We also have nature based activities meant to create spiritual experiences and opportunities at an internal change. Many other residents of Cirque Lodge find an internal change in therapy with a counselor, or by beginning the steps of the recovery process.
Time in alcohol or drug rehab can be a valuable and life changing experience, but for most who want to find a lasting recovery, the internal change comes from continuing to work the program. After they leave Cirque, they immerse themselves in the recovery community. They find help and support from fellow alcoholics and addicts, and find that internal change through their relationship to a higher power. Time at Cirque Lodge can create this process. The efforts of the individual are what make it internal, meaningful and lasting.
