Ropes Activities in Alcohol and Drug Rehab
Cirque Lodge is well known for their experiential approach to treating drug and alcohol addiction. Individuals are taught a number of effective recovery skills through cognitive based activities. The Studio facility of Cirque Lodge provides an ideal location for many of these experiential elements. The 17,000 Square foot sound stage is home to many of these types of activities. This massive stage is the home to Cirque Lodge’s ropes challenge course. It is the largest indoor climbing ropes course in the world. Being indoors is advantageous. Utah is known to have harsh winters and scorching summers. The indoor ropes facility allows for year round activities for those in alcohol and drug rehab.
Usually, when a person thinks of the ropes course they think of the higher elements. This involves conquering a fear of heights, as the individual is two to three stories in the air. This, of course, is an exhilarating and unique experience. However, the ropes course also provides many lower rope elements. The low ropes activities consist of a number of challenges and team building exercises. Through this a number of cognitive lessons are learned. Individuals can learn the importance of working with and supporting others. Also, it is a chance for those in recovery to learn the importance of communication. The most important aspect of communication building is learning to ask for help.
These activities are a fun element to the more rigorous and personal aspects of alcohol and drug rehab treatment. Things like the ropes course play an integral roll in the treatment offered as a part of the Cirque Lodge program.
