Spiritual Experiences in Alcohol and Drug Rehab
A part of alcohol and drug rehab is placed on having vital spiritual experiences. The Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous explains these experiences as “huge emotional displacements and rearrangements”. The influencing forces of alcoholism and drug addiction are replaced by new convictions. At Cirque Lodge, we feel this comes from within. We strive to provide our residents with every opportunity we can for them to experience this spiritual and internal change. We do this by providing a caring recovery program, intended to address the psychological, emotional and spiritual.
Usually, if someone hears “spiritual” words, they think religion. With alcohol and drug rehab at Cirque Lodge, the religious aspect only comes into play if the individual client needs it for the success of their program. We use nature, the mountain, and the power of the group to help individuals in finding their higher spiritual plane. Experiential activities are introduced to help residents with the healing of nature. Such vital spiritual experiences can be a foundation for continuing the program and finding a lasting sobriety. With that, the alcoholic/addict can leave our facility and help others to find and achieve the same.
