The Family Role in Recovery
Family members can play an integral role in a loved one’s recovery from alcoholism or drug abuse. A supportive and healthy home environment can be foundational in continuing the 12-steps and involvement in recovery. Family members may not be aware of their role and unhealthy behaviors in the home can be a negative or enabling factor. Part of the alcohol and drug rehab program at Cirque Lodge is our Family Week. Family Week contains a number of workshops and lectures that help to prepare the family member for their role in the recovery process.
Every three weeks of addiction treatment at Cirque Lodge are dedicated to working with families. This frequency allows even shorter term residents a chance to involve their family in the activities and workshops. It takes place from Tuesday-Friday of the week and consists of number informational and helpful workshops to instruct the family on their role in recovery. It also gives the family members a chance to see how their loved one is doing in treatment and a chance to experience the Cirque Lodge drug rehab facility first hand.
A family in recovery also can find support and a program for themselves. After alcohol and drug rehab are completed at Cirque Lodge, an aftercare plan is put into place to continue the efforts of recovery. These efforts include continued involvement in the fellowship of AA, Narcotics Anonymous or similar recovery fellowship. Family members can find similar support and help through programs like Al-anon. Al-anon and Alateen family groups provide a place for support and 12-steps to follow in dealing with a loved one’s drinking or addiction. While the loved one is attending meetings to help them stay sober. Loving family members can be involved in their own meetings and surround of support. These aspects are covered and discussed in the Cirque Lodge Family Week as loved ones work together on efforts of recovery over addiction.
