Detoxification and Drug Rehab
An aspect of the admissions process is to determine if detoxification is needed for the addict. The process of detoxification is a critical part of recovery from alcohol or drug addiction. Depending on the severity, detox can be a difficult aspect of overcoming the addiction. At Cirque Lodge, in Sundance Utah, the
drug rehab program begins upon completion of this period of detoxification.
The drug treatment program at Cirque Lodge does not offer onsite detoxification services. We partner with the University of Utah's Neuropsychiatric Institute. (UNI) This former drug rehab program in Salt Lake City now is a leading effective detoxification facility. UNI offers a dedicated staff and 24-hour monitoring during this period of detoxification. UNI offers the most sophisticated advancements in detox services for the most critical stage of ending alcohol or drug addiction.
The Purpose of Detoxification
Drug Rehab is not as effective "under the influence." Detoxification is designed to cleanse the body of this influence. It has several purposes, but two important staples. First is to eradicate the toxins of alcohol or drugs in the system. The second main aspect is to stabilize the body by treating the impending withdrawal caused by physical dependence to the drugs or alcohol.
Cleansing the body of toxins depends on the severity of addiction. This can be a painstaking process, or just a period of waiting. Monitoring is provided during this state to ensure that no adverse affects occur. Depending on the severity of chemical dependence, the period of detox can be a life or death situation. Ridding the body of these toxins can provide a healthy, safe outcome.
Chemical dependence to alcohol or drugs brings with it many negative effects when the body is denied the substance of choice. The brain and body can go through a number of physical and emotional traumas caused by addiction withdrawal. Withdrawal symptoms depend on the severity of alcohol or drug addiction. Some withdrawal caused by certain drugs and alcohol can be life threatening. Detox counteracts withdrawal at times with medications to curb the addiction crave and lessen the impact of withdrawal. These medications also stabilize the body and lessen the influence of the drugs and alcohol in the system.
Length of Detoxification
The length of detoxification depends solely on the severity of addiction. Most cases of detox are completed in just two to three days. Some cases of addiction require a longer period of detoxification for the most effectiveness. Alcoholism is one case where severe addiction requires a lengthier detox stay. Some opiates, including heroin, may also require a longer period of detoxification to treat withdrawal. There have been cases of particular benzodiazepine medications needing a lengthier detoxification stay.
In severe cases of addiction, detox is critical. The body can go through sufferable damage caused by withdrawal. The detoxification team at UNI is dedicated to offering the healthiest solution for withdrawal problems. Detox can be a brief period or a lengthier stay depending on the history of addiction and the response of the body to withdrawal. However it is a critical aspect of the drug rehab process. It is good to know it is handled by licensed medical professionals.
Upon completion of detoxification, one of our private Cirque Lodge vehicles will pick you up and deliver you to our drug rehab program for enrollment. Cirque Lodge is just a short drive from the UNI center. Upon arrival to our facility, each client is taken into the admissions process to prepare them for immediate and enjoyable stay in our drug treatment program.
