Drug Rehab Family Therapy

The Family Week drug rehab program is designed to offer the most effective addiction treatment on the family level. Every third week of our treatment cycle involves the family of our clients engaging in a special addiction treatment program. We provide a full array of lectures and activities to help the family discover what it takes as a family to help their loved one overcome addiction. Treatment for the family would not be complete without therapy sessions for the family. Many times some of the foundational underlying issues can be traced to family issues. The family program is also an opportunity to provide specialized family therapy for each client of the Cirque Lodge addiction treatment program. This time is appointed to address the family issues regarding their loved one, the addict. Family therapy does wonders in creating a healing environment for the family to develop from.

Therapy Groups for Families

Family therapy is offered as a part of the Cirque Lodge family week. This intimate setting allows the family to address the underlying issues of addiction with their loved ones. The drug rehab client is allowed to address problems as well as the therapist or counselor offering support to the situation. This intimate setting can be both emotionally trying as well as amazingly therapeutic. Finding solutions for the underlying issues on a family level can make all the difference.

Therapy Elements for Children

The family program at Cirque Lodge also offers elements of therapy for the children of our drug rehab clients. Children can be deeply affected by addiction as well. Therapy is simplified to help the child understand what their concerns are. The sand tray room is ideal for working with children in a therapeutic environment. Children do not have the means or capacity to fully express themselves. They may have difficulties in addressing the addiction. The sand tray room simplifies the process of working with children. The sand tray room is filled floor to ceiling with all manners of toys, statues, trinkets, and models. In this room the child can pick out things that express their feelings. It is a sobering experience when the child selects things regarding alcoholism or addiction that do not represent the addict in a good light.

Most addicts do not want to hurt their children, but because of the impulses and behavior of addiction they can not help it. Therapy geared to assist the child can be a sobering experience in itself. As the drug rehab client experiences how addiction makes their children feel. The balance of family, cognitive and experiential programs makes it possible to overcome these addiction problems. The recovered individual can have the opportunity to change their child's thinking regarding their parent. A new found life free from addiction can strengthen the family like no other experience.
