Residents are encouraged to invite their family to take part in the treatments and therapies offered. Part of the family element is to better educate everyone on addiction; its nature and the behaviors that result from it. The way family members act and react around each other can be enabling and triggering behaviors. Workshops are provided to help family members recognize enabling and codependency, and the learn ways to avoid it.

During family week, special therapy sessions and groups are administered by our primary counselors. Family problems can have a strong influence on addictive behaviors. These therapy sessions can help family members address the underlying things that have a hand in the behaviors. Process groups are also used to help clear up the lines of communication and offers open and honest feed back. Because of the emotions and struggles there are at the family level, this week of activities is very difficult for some. However, in the long run it can be a needed aspect to recovery and integral in working the 9th step of the recovery process.
