There is no magic cure all for alcoholism or drug addiction. Really there is not one set way to treat it. People are individuals and require different approaches to help them with their condition. The
inpatient drug treatment program at Cirque Lodge consists of many forms of treatments, recovery programs and therapies. Each resident works through their own addiction treatment experience. It consists of programming that meets their needs with the proper forms of treatment and care. This page takes a brief look at a number of elements of Cirque Lodge. It is the balance of these elements that has helped Cirque become a
national drug treatment program.
Personalized Drug Treatment
To meet the individual needs of each resident, alcohol treatment and drug treatment is personalized. Each resident undergoes a rigorous assessment process to determine these needs. A program is developed and tailored for the resident. They work with a primary counselor throughout their stay, and benefit from personal one-on-one therapy sessions with that counselor. People are individuals. Effective drug treatment programming for a certain individual may not seem as effective to another. By personalizing addiction treatment, each resident works a program that provides attentions to their areas of need.
Dual Diagnosis in Drug Rehab
Cirque is a dual diagnosis facility. A majority of individuals struggling with alcoholism or drug addiction can be diagnosed with a co-occurring psychiatric condition. A part of alcohol and drug rehab at Cirque Lodge is diagnosis and treatment for disorders and conditions such as depression or anxiety. The program is tailored to help those in need of dual diagnosis treatment. This is advantageous for residents who are unaware they have such a condition. The use of drugs and alcohol can prime the brain from developing these types of disorders. Similarly, those suffering from psychiatric conditions are more susceptible to influences of addictive substances.
12-step Drug Treatment
Addiction treatment at Cirque Lodge is founded on the 12-step program. Residents begin the process of 12-step recovery while being rehabilitated. Alcohol and drug treatment helps the recovering alcoholic/addict to begin this recovery process by working on the initial steps. These steps involve accepting that there is a problem with addiction and turning over those problems to a higher power. Support plays a role in continuing this recovery process. After rehab is completed, the support and help of a 12-step fellowship can help the individual continue towards successful recovery.
A Battery of Therapies
A number of different types of therapies are used in helping individuals come to terms with their addiction. Those who struggle with alcoholism or drug addiction can be faced with behavioral problems and codependent relationships. Cognitive and behavioral therapies are used to help individuals understand why they act the way they do. It also helps them come to grips with the effects that addiction has on their lives. Personal therapies are implemented to address the underlying situations that can be influential in self medicating with drugs and alcohol. Family therapies are also provided to address codependency and the other struggles that are found in the home.
Family Week
A part of our leading drug treatment program is set aside for family involvement. Family Week is offered every three weeks of the treatment cycle, so that each resident has a chance to involve their family. It consists of programming elements to better educate family members on the nature of addiction. Care and therapy is also provided to help the family begin the process of coping and healing. Most relationships involving an alcoholic/addict can be classed as codependent. A part of family week is to educate on codependency and to teach family members the importance of avoiding enabling. Family members are far better prepared to help their loved one for when they leave rehab.
Experiential Therapies
A unique element to drug and alcohol rehab at Cirque Lodge is the use of experiential activities. These activities are highly effective at teaching recovery lessons and providing vital spiritual experiences.

On any given day, a resident can go for a hike into the mountains, work with horses, go for a helicopter flight, and even work in our ropes course. This element of programming is not only effective, it also teaches individuals ways to have fun and enjoy their sobriety. Experiential therapies have shown to be so effective, it has become a daily element to the alcohol and drug treatment program at Cirque Lodge.
Helping Residents to Continue On
Alcohol and drug addiction doesn't end when rehab ends. It takes time to come to grips with addiction, and to overcome the impulses to use. Residents of the Cirque Lodge program are not left alone during this time. Each resident is provided a Continuing Care Plan to assist them as they embark on the recovery process. Each resident works with aftercare in developing this plan for them. The 12-step process is also continued in this plan. After leaving the safety of alcohol or drug rehab, a 12-step fellowship can be a needed support. Aftercare can help residents find the best forms of 12-step fellowships to meet their needs for the recovery process. A number of other activities and elements are also available in helping alumni. These are
exclusive drug treatment program elements that are only found at Cirque Lodge.
