A part of Family Week is to provide an education on the nature of addiction. A lecture is provided on the disease concept of addiction, and family members gain an understanding on the need to support their loved one during the initial stages and months of recovery.

Family Week also gives residents a chance to sit down with their counselor and their family. These sessions can help the family through a number of their feelings and begin the process of healing.
