Hello, my name is Dave Beck. I am the Director of Experiential Therapy here at the Cirque Lodge drug rehab facility. As you can see from this picture, I have a love of horses. Having grown up around horses and working with horses my entire life, I have come to appreciate these magnificent animals. They are among the smartest animals I have encountered. Horses are very perceptive about their surroundings, particularly about people. Many times I have been asked why we use horses in our drug rehab therapy here at the Lodge. The Importance of Horses in a Drug Rehab

There are many aspects of working with horses we explore here at Cirque Lodge. Many people have the perception that working with horses means riding them. At Cirque Lodge, we give our residents the opportunity to take in other non-riding aspects of horse therapy. The equine therapy offered at Cirque Lodge develops powerful bond between man and animal and can teach several unique lessons about life. Our drug rehab residents learn the importance of taking care of something other than their drug addictions. Horses are amazingly intelligent animals. It is easy to lead them, but you must earn their trust first. The effects of developing a trusting relationship with a horse are profound.
