The indoor horse arena at Cirque Lodge is one of the few indoor horse arenas in the world dedicated to a drug rehab facility. Our facility enables us to work year-round with individuals recovering from alcoholism or other substance abuse issues. We also have a large outdoor arena to work through therapy sessions when the weather is cooperative. Our equine therapy is a part of our overall drug rehab program. Many alcoholics and drug addicts have lost the capability to ask for help, or to even know how to communicate effectively with others. Equine therapy helps the addiction treatment residents overcome these disabilities in a way much more powerfully than any method used in a classroom setting.

Equine Therapy in Drug Rehab

Of all the experiential therapy programs offered here at the Studio, the equine therapy program has proven more effective than others. Equine therapy gives the drug rehab residents a unique opportunity to work with another living creature. To clarify, our horse therapy does not involve riding. Rather, it involves making the horse perform basic skills by leading them. Horses are amazingly intelligent animals that provide honest feedback in their actions. Working with horses creates a natural intervention between man and beast and teaches invaluable lessons in trust, communication and control. Many addiction treatment residents build a bond with the horses they work with. Equine therapy is a different approach to a drug rehab program, but has proven time after time to be quite effective. Our indoor horse arena permits us to use this therapy year round. The healing effects are magnificent and it's a therapy we take great pride in.

Experiential Therapy in Drug Rehab

There are many reasons why experiential therapy is such an important part of our drug addiction treatment program. It offers a different type of therapy that can be instrumental in the healing process. It gives the residents of the studio an opportunity to leave the confining space of the drug rehab facility and allows them get out and experience nature. Our natural surroundings are a unique advantage that allows our residents to reconnect with their higher power in the most beautiful of settings. Our experiential therapy also teaches important lessons that can be taken to heart in overcoming addiction.
