Many people wonder why we use a helicopter as a part of our addiction treatment program. Dave discusses the part that private helicopter flights can play in establishing the 12-steps of recovery. It is a powerful element to the unique and effective approach to drug rehab at Cirque Lodge, and many residents take it to heart as a memorable experience.

Cirque Lodge is based on the 12-step approach developed by Alcoholics Anonymous. A key part of addiction treatment and recovery is to find a connection with a higher power. The experiential program uses many elements, to help individuals who are struggling with addiction, to find this connection. Cirque Lodge is a spiritual based program. This doesn't mean religious. We allow our drug rehab residents to find and establish their spiritual connection with whatever power they can turn their addiction problems over to. Private helicopter flights are a venue for finding and establishing such a connection.

When Cirque Lodge clients have been in treatment for some time, they are invited to be a part of a helicopter flight. These are clients that are working on their third step to recovery. This step entails turning over the problems of addiction to a higher power. Clients have a chance to connect with a higher power while out enjoying the sites and wonders of nature in a helicopter. The drug rehab program takes on a whole new form when such a spiritual connection is established.

Clients also have a chance on these flights to sit and meditate for a time. The helicopter lands on a remote mountain top, far from the chaos and turmoil of the world. It is a quiet and serene location. During this time, clients can go off by themselves and think about recovery. Many individuals leave promises up their on the mountain. This is one of the many healing places we provide our clients. It gives them a chance to find for themselves a solid connection to their higher power.
