Help at Cirque Lodge, Sundance Utah, is based on addressing the needs of a person who has had a chronic alcohol problem. Upon admission to our exclusive alcohol rehab center, a resident's history of alcoholism is reviewed and a specific program tailored to the requirements of that individual is developed. Drug rehab can only be successful if the resident comes to Cirque Lodge motivated and willing to engage in the alcohol rehabilitation process.

It is known that most people who have abused alcohol over an extended period of time have multiple anxieties, anti-social or other personality disorders. For this reason, we do our best to treat each person who comes to our drug and alcohol rehab center as a distinct individual, with individual needs. No single treatment protocol is effective on all residents seeking a drug rehab program and alcohol addiction recovery. We pride ourselves in having the finest rehab tools available to assist each resident in achieving success in sobriety.

Alcohol Rehab and Experiential Therapy

As part of the private rehab program here at Cirque Lodge, we believe experiential therapy has the most powerful ability to change lives. The mountains of Sundance, Utah provide a spectacular backdrop for outdoor experiential therapy. Some of the programs we have developed include snowshoeing in the winter, hiking in the spring, summer and fall, or walking along the beautiful Provo River. Other alcohol rehabilitation program activities include riding a mountain bike or helicopter tours of the scenic wilderness surrounding the lodge. One of the most effective components of our experiential therapies is working with horses, otherwise known as equine therapy. Dave Beck, our Director of Experiential Therapy, is a world-class equine therapist. His program has helped many residents achieve success where another drug and alcohol treatment facility might have failed.

Successful rehab help requires all of these experiential therapies, as well as the standard therapies and 12-step programs that have been the bedrock of alcohol treatment for decades.

Family Week for Rehab Residents

Residents in our alcohol rehab program only do as well as the support they have after leaving treatment. We realize the importance of families, and have developed a comprehensive family program. This program teaches family members and other loved ones how to understand and cope with the disease of alcoholism. Most family members do not recognize the detrimental effects that their personal consumption of alcohol has on the resident. We teach them that for their loved one to be sober, they need to set the example.

Family week comprises four days of hands-on training. Families learn about alcohol treatment first-hand by confronting their loved-one in a controlled therapeutic session. These sessions teach families how to more effectively communicate with their loved one in a alcohol rehabilitation center. Family members also participate in some of the experiential therapies, including those in our indoor ropes and challenge course and our equine therapy. The goal for the week is to have families empowered with the knowledge and tools to help them in their efforts to help their loved one achieve success in recovery.

Long-term Alcohol Treatment Aftercare

One of the more important aspects of an alcohol rehab center is to provide long-term aftercare. This program involves a counselor in the resident's local area. A sponsor is also designated to help provide a link back to the initial alcohol treatment program. Arrangement for aftercare is provided by Cirque Lodge prior to the resident's discharge. By continuing the process learned while at Cirque Lodge, a person is more likely to remain on the right track to sobriety. If a person can achieve a full year of sobriety, statistics show that the vast majority will remain sober. This is the goal of long-term rehab aftercare.
