Family Involved Drug Rehab Care

To facilitate and enhance the healing process, Cirque Lodge involves family members and loved ones in the treatment process of residents. Family involvement is both an effective and integral part to the alcohol and drug rehab center, as well as the recovery process. Family involvement takes place in several ways. Instead of being an addiction treatment facility with a feel of "Visitation Rights", family are involved in several stages of the treatment and recovery process. The central aspect of this process is our Family Week program held frequently to incorporate the involvement of loved ones.

When a loved one comes to the Cirque for alcohol treatment or drug rehab, family members are provided information from the staff on ways they can be involved in the treatment process. After the initial 72-hours of assessments and treatment evaluations at Cirque Lodge, family members can and are contacted and informed by phone and other means as a part of this treatment process. This type of participation is encouraged to help with facilitation of healing.

Family Program

The Cirque Lodge Family Program is a very powerful aspect to both healing and recovery. Family members can be very deeply influenced by their loved one's drinking, using and addiction problems. Also, family behaviors are an influential aspect either positive or negative to that loved one's abuse of drugs or alcohol. The Family Program helps to explore and address these concerns with a week of therapeutic and educational aspects.

Family Week is such an important aspect to the alcohol and drug rehab program. For this reason it is held every three weeks of the treatment process. It begins of Tuesday with Family introductions and workshops and ends on Friday with Lectures on Aftercare Programs and a Self-Care Workshop. The day begins each morning at 8:30 am with a Family Style breakfast like only Cirque Lodge could provide. It usually completes each day about 4:00pm. Family Week Aspects

Education Aspects

A number of the lectures and workshops during Family Week are intended to provide those involved with an education on a number of things. Family members can be unaware of what alcoholism or drug addiction is, as well as what it does to the brain and to the individual. Each day of the Family Program at our addiction treatment facility consists of different educational pieces to help the family better understand how to help their loved one, avoid enabling, and assist in the healing process.

Therapy Aspects

Family Group therapies and individual therapies are scheduled during the program for those involved. Caring and committed counselors work with the family members on being open and honest with each other and establishing lines of communication. This can be very difficult for some, but it is a very powerful piece to both healing and the recovery process. Counselors will schedule with the family a time during the program to participate in a private family session as a part of this process. Time is also scheduled each day for process groups in the alcohol rehab or drug rehab program.

Experiential Aspects

One thing that separates the Cirque Lodge addiction treatment facility from others is our use and involvement of experiential therapies. During Family Week, time is set aside for the family to take part in different experiential challenges and activities. The experiential piece is always changing to provide those involved with new challenges and team building types of exercises. Many of the activities come with lessons to learn on life and recovery. They primarily take place in the ropes course at our Studio facility.

Family in Recovery

The Family in Recovery can learn to grow and heal together. When a loved one completes alcohol and drug rehab, they continue to build support and recover through involvement in 12-step meetings like Alcoholics Anonymous. Likewise, family members can take part in support and recovery programs intended to help and support themselves. Al-anon/ Alateen are such programs that provide a 12-step approach to support and living life. Another place for family members to find help and support is through a program like Codependents Anonymous (CoDA). A family in Recovery can also continue to grow and to heal through furthering personal therapies and by participating in healthy activities that promote the process.
