The Cirque Lodge alcohol and drug rehab facility hosted its first annual winter retreat for alumni February 1st – 3rd 2013. This weekend of winter activities and sobriety meetings help our alumni to stay connected to the facility and to one another. The Video features members of staff and alumni during a tubing activity held Friday evening. Such activities can be a means to have fun in one’s sobriety. These events were held in Midway and up at Sundance at the Ski resort.
Saturday the 2nd began with breakfast and an AA meeting. This was followed with a day of activities with skiing and spa at Sundance. Dave Beck, Experiential Director of the Cirque Lodge drug rehab facility took a few alumni horseback riding nearby. In the evening, alumni and staff met up for some dinner at the Sundance Chalet. This was followed by a gratitude meeting.
Sunday morning there was a closing brunch and brief meeting with Clinical Director Beverly Roesch before the weekend was drawn to a close. The experience was one that has cultivated the desire to continually have this winter retreat each year for alumni who desire to come.
Fellowship and Support
A part of the addiction treatment and recovery process is supporting one another. It also involves giving back and helping others once sobriety is obtained. The Winter Alumni Retreat is a means to having support with individuals that you went through treatment with. Current Cirque Lodge residents participate in some aspects of these weekends, so alumni can give back by sharing their experiences, strength and hope. It is also a way to stay in touch with staff of Cirque Lodge. A fun time can be had without the need for drugs or alcohol.
We are continually moving forward with a number of alumni activities, dinners, gatherings and retreats. These are held in locations across the country. The best way to stay in the loop on these upcoming events is to contact our Alumni Director, Meghan H. She provides information regularly through social mediums online and also through our quarterly newsletter. You can contact her by call (801)-222-9200 x120 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
