Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Utah

Change your thoughts, change your behaviors, heal from trauma, and get a better result.

Not everyone who enters a rehabilitation center initially believes they have a problem with drugs or alcohol, but everyone recognizes they could be doing better. At Cirque Lodge, we understand that addiction is often rooted in deeper struggles, including unresolved trauma, grief, and mental health challenges. Our approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a widely recognized evidence-based treatment for substance use disorders, alongside trauma-informed care to help individuals address both addiction and the underlying emotional wounds that contribute to it.

Through a carefully balanced program of individual, group, and family therapy, we provide a compassionate, supportive environment where healing can truly begin.

Our experienced therapists utilize trauma-focused techniques to help clients process past experiences, regulate emotions, and develop healthier coping mechanisms.

Performed in a serene and nurturing setting, we believe this approach is one of the most effective components of addiction recovery. Our highly trained and empathetic staff deliver cutting-edge therapeutic interventions, making Cirque Lodge a leader in trauma-informed addiction treatment.

When you or your loved one comes to us for treatment, we understand that the struggle goes beyond addiction—it may also involve family conflict, past trauma, or profound loss. At Cirque Lodge, we are committed to walking this path of recovery with you, providing the tools and support needed for lasting transformation.

What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy?

What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy?

One of the more effective therapeutic modalities in treating addictions and co-occurring issues is cognitive-behavioral therapy which works directly with behaviors and thought impulses.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy breaks down behavioral patterns and uses positive reinforcement to help with modification if needed. To understand the approaches of cognitive therapy you first must gain an understanding of what substance abuse does to an individual. Over time alcoholism and drug addiction can change brain chemistry and alter thought patterns, emotional responses and invoke behavioral change. Such responses can act as a trigger to use the substance of choice. Cognitive therapy takes a closer look at these responses, identifies them, and introduces strategies that use constructive alternatives other than harmful drugs and alcohol. The National Institute of Drug Abuse has stated that their research indicates that the skills learned through cognitive behavioral therapies remain with the individual long after concluding alcohol treatment or drug treatment.

Cirque Lodge provides a positive and healing therapeutic environment. Through individual and group therapy settings our experienced master-level therapists introduce and assist residents in developing coping strategies and tools necessary, not only prevent relapse from occurring but to live a joyful life. This is about living the life you were meant to live. Our belief is that a loving and motivational approach has many more advantages than fear and confrontation. We seek to remove the feelings of doubt and hopelessness and restore the positives that come from a productive daily life.

Cognitive Therapy Sessions and Learning While Enjoying

Cognitive Therapy Sessions and Learning While Enjoying

Many of our cognitive therapy sessions are done outside of our building.

Either while on a hike or sitting in a mountain meadow, we introduce fun and we believe a more engaging way to develop coping mechanisms. There is healing in nature and we believe the effect of a cognitive therapy session with the beauty of our mountain setting has an exponentially greater effect on our clients. Being active in recovery is very powerful. A goal for our clients is to keep them moving. We feel we engage on a much higher level by simply just not sitting in some classroom or lecture hall. Regular meetings, regularly. Daily routines are a positive not only in treating chemical dependency but the recovery process and in life itself. Our routine is to combine our cognitive sessions with the magnificence of the world around us. We believe we are better at this aspect of treatment than any other drug and alcohol treatment rehab in the nation.

Continual research on the efficacy of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is being performed with positive results. CBT has shown to be a very powerful tool in both individual and group programs and in the prevention of relapse. However, our belief is that cognitive therapy alone is not enough. We benefit from multiple approaches to care. While it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a combination of treatment and therapies to overcome our addiction issues.
