Within a confidential mountain setting, experiential therapy, family involvement, and continuing care planning help clients practice recovery skills and prepare for life after treatment.

Personalized Residential Heroin Addiction Treatment in Utah

Cirque Lodge provides personalized heroin addiction treatment for people whose heroin use has affected their health, relationships, emotional stability, daily structure, or sense of control.

An individualized clinical assessment begins the care process because each person enters treatment with a different history. The assessment reviews the person’s patterns of heroin use, withdrawal risk, mental health needs, trauma history, family dynamics, and recovery goals.

The goal is to treat the person behind the heroin use, rather than heroin use alone, with care that reflects their clinical needs, life circumstances, and readiness for recovery.

Our Facilities: The Lodge and The Studio

Residential treatment at Cirque Lodge takes place across two private facilities in Utah’s Rocky Mountains: The Lodge and The Studio. Each facility has a treatment role and provides dedicated spaces for residential care, detox support, therapy, meals, rest, and experiential work.

1-main-hero

The Lodge

Located at the base of Mount Timpanogos, The Lodge is a private, luxury mountain retreat that combines comfort with authenticity and elegance.

The Lodge accommodates 16 residents. The adjacent Lookout facility accommodates an additional 3 residents. This smaller resident count creates a more exclusive and intimate setting than The Studio.

Each room provides personal heating and a private bath with slate tile and a jetted tub. Stone and timber interiors, meticulously appointed rooms, a log spiral staircase, and the Cirque Meditation Room are also featured throughout The Lodge.

Large windows provide views of the surrounding mountains, Cascade Cirque, glacier-fed waterfalls, year-round snowfields, and Sundance Ski Resort. Deer, elk, and moose often wander the property.

The Studio

The Studio is located at the gateway to Provo Canyon, framed by the Cascade Mountains, and offers views of Mount Timpanogos. Its accommodations feature oil paintings and expansive floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the surrounding landscape.

Residents can enjoy a state-of-the-art fitness center, pickleball courts, a 12-step walking path, a labyrinth, an organic garden, a hair salon, and massage rooms.

The Studio occupies twelve acres of manicured gardens and arenas. A private, gated entrance offers confidentiality for residents and visiting family and friends.

The residential wing provides comfortable and inviting accommodations, along with common areas where residents can socialize, enjoy the fireplace, or take part in the activities provided.

Cirque Lodge offers shared or private detox accommodations. Private detox is provided in a serene and discreet environment with dedicated medical support.

How Heroin Addiction Treatment Works at Cirque Lodge

Heroin treatment at Cirque Lodge follows a structured pathway designed to connect each stage of care to the resident’s clinical needs. The treatment process begins with confidential admissions and a clinical assessment that reviews heroin use, withdrawal risk, mental health needs, family concerns, and recovery goals.

The assessment helps determine the safest and most appropriate treatment path. Some people may need detox support or medical stabilization before they can participate safely in therapy. Others may begin directly in residential treatment, where a structured schedule, therapeutic support, and distance from daily triggers help them start focused recovery work.

After therapy begins, treatment addresses cravings, triggers, and behavior patterns connected to heroin use. When mental health symptoms or trauma affect recovery, the treatment plan incorporates dual diagnosis and trauma-informed care.

As treatment progresses, recovery work moves from insight to practical skill-building through experiential therapy, family support, 12-Step participation, and continuing care planning for the next stage of recovery.

Evidence-Based and Trauma-Informed Therapies for Heroin Addiction

At Cirque Lodge, behavioral therapy is central to heroin use disorder treatment. It helps residents identify the thoughts, emotions, triggers, and routines linked to heroin use. Residents then practice coping strategies for cravings, stress, and situations that can increase relapse risk.

Treatment includes:

  • Individual therapy gives residents space for personal work.
  • Group therapy adds connection, accountability, and feedback from others who understand the recovery process.
  • Clinical workshops and psychoeducation help residents understand addiction, relapse risk, coping skills, and recovery planning in practical terms.
  • Cognitive behavioral therapy, or CBT, helps residents recognize thought and behavior patterns, challenge automatic responses, and build practical relapse-prevention skills.

Trauma-related responses or shame can make it harder for a resident to discuss experiences, trust clinicians, or remain engaged in treatment. Throughout therapy, a trauma-informed approach emphasizes safety, choice, and respect. When a resident needs more focused support, our team may integrate DBT, EMDR, ACT, or mindfulness-based work into the treatment plan.

Integrated Care for Heroin Addiction and Co-Occurring Mental Health Conditions

Dual diagnosis care at Cirque Lodge integrates heroin addiction treatment with support for co-occurring mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, and mood instability. Recovery can be harder to sustain when these concerns are treated separately from heroin use disorder.

For some people, heroin use becomes a way to manage emotional pain, stress, panic, shame, or sleep disruption. This pattern can keep the cycle of heroin use active even after the person wants to stop.

Trauma-informed care helps keep treatment grounded in safety, dignity, and trust while the treatment plan accounts for mental health symptoms, trauma history, emotional regulation, and relapse risk.

Treating both together helps address the issues that can draw the person back toward heroin use.

Residential Heroin Treatment Away From Daily Triggers and Pressure

For many people, stopping heroin use is harder when the same routines, responsibilities, stress, and access to heroin remain part of daily life. Residential treatment provides you or your loved one with distance from that environment, with structure and clinical support in place from the start.

This distance can be especially important for people who continue functioning despite heroin addiction, carry professional responsibilities, face family concerns, or feel pressure to keep appearing in control.

At Cirque Lodge, care takes place in a private mountain setting. During treatment, the private location reduces exposure to familiar social and professional environments.

Heroin Detox and Stabilization at Cirque Lodge

For some people, heroin detox is the first clinical step before residential treatment begins. Heroin withdrawal can be uncomfortable and, in some cases, present safety concerns, so a clinical assessment determines whether detox is needed.

Detox at Cirque Lodge takes place at The Studio. Qualified medical staff monitor withdrawal symptoms, respond to safety concerns, and help residents prepare for therapy.

Medical providers may prescribe medication to manage withdrawal symptoms when the resident’s symptoms, medical history, and safety assessment support its use.

The Studio includes private bedrooms, a detox lounge, a medical examination room, a nearby nurse’s station, and a monitoring and call system for support when needed.

For people who need detox, this initial phase helps make the beginning of residential treatment safer and more manageable.

Privacy and Confidentiality at Cirque Lodge

Privacy concerns often influence whether you or someone you love feels ready to ask for help. For professionals, parents, and people in public-facing roles who are concerned about exposure during treatment, a private setting can be especially important.

At Cirque Lodge, privacy forms part of the treatment experience. Discreet admissions, private accommodations, and a confidential treatment environment give you or your loved one room to enter care with dignity and focus on treatment without feeling exposed.

Cirque is a world class facility. The staff is amazing. From the therapists, to counselors, to the front line and shift lead. The staff is great here. The owners are awesome, very personable, and seem to be involved which is nice. They have any amenity you can possibly think of. From the horses, to the sauna, the full size basketball court. The food is amazing. The views are breathtaking. I really enjoyed the groups and the one on one with my counselor/therapist. The healing you receive here is real and I’m eternally grateful for that healing I did receive here, and hope to continue to carry that with me and share it along the way. Thanks Cirque!

I was a resident at Cirque twice, once in 2016 and again in 2024. The facilities upgrades were an added bonus to what I knew would be a beneficial treatment experience. While the luxury amenities were amazing, what really stood out to me was the experiential therapy. From the high ropes course to the weekly hikes in the surrounding landscape, those activities helped me break through barriers I couldn’t have reached in talk therapy alone. Most importantly, the staff gave me the guidance and opportunity to work through all 12 steps while I was there. I left with a solid foundation for my recovery. Highly recommended for anyone ready to commit to a life of sobriety.

As an addiction professional, families in crisis trust me to help them identify the most appropriate treatment programs for their loved ones. There are very few programs I recommend as highly as Cirque Lodge. Cirque Lodge is unique in that it is truly a family-owned recovery program, deeply committed to the fundamental tenets of real recovery. It provides an environment that is not only spiritually healing, but also safe and supportive for individuals who are new to recovery—allowing them the space to look inward and find the strength needed for a new way of life. If you are considering treatment options for yourself or someone you care about, I strongly encourage you to consider Cirque Lodge.

What Does a Day in Treatment Look Like at Cirque Lodge?

Each day at Cirque Lodge follows a structured rhythm, while each resident’s treatment plan shapes their individual schedule. Based on that plan, the schedule can include individual therapy, group therapy, recovery workshops, experiential work, 12-Step participation, fitness, meals, and time for quiet reflection.

Structure helps reduce unplanned time, creates a steadier daily rhythm, and supports recovery in a setting where heroin use is no longer part of the daily routine.

The weekly schedule varies according to clinical needs, scheduled activities, guest lectures, and Family Program dates. Different weeks feature different combinations of therapy sessions, activities, recreational experiences, special events, guest lecturers, and Family Week. The example schedule presents one possible week of treatment.

Family and Marital Support for Heroin Recovery at Cirque Lodge

Family and Marital Support for Heroin Recovery at Cirque Lodge

Heroin addiction often affects the family system as well as the person receiving treatment. Loved ones may struggle with fear, broken trust, unclear boundaries, enabling patterns, or uncertainty about how to support recovery after treatment.
Cirque Lodge’s Family Therapy Program and marital therapy help families work on communication, clarify boundaries, and prepare for the home environment after residential care.
During Family Week, loved ones can take part in education and therapy sessions that explain addiction, recovery, and how to support recovery after residential care without enabling heroin use or taking over responsibility for the person’s recovery.

Continuing Care

Continuing Care

Recovery planning at Cirque Lodge begins before residential treatment ends. Relapse prevention planning helps each person identify triggers, high-risk situations, and coping strategies for the life they will return to after heroin treatment.

Cirque Lodge incorporates 12-Step support into recovery planning to help reinforce accountability, connection, and participation in a recovery community.

Continuing care extends support beyond the residential stay through a personalized aftercare and relapse prevention plan. The plan draws from the forms of support appropriate to the person, including support groups, recovery networks, outpatient therapy, medication management when appropriate, and planning for the person’s home, work, family, and recovery environment.
